2013 Rocket 3 Roadster - pre redesign

I’ve gone to my dealer with this gripe, and they have been in contact with Triumph on getting a Factory Map. Below is the current status, and I will keep you posted. In case there is anyone else with the 2013, and this could possibly be relevant to prior models as well.

Just following up with you. We did get a call back from Triumph, they are 99% sure we should be able to Re-map your bike with a download that will take away those power restrictions. Triumph America is waiting on a definite confirmation from the UK. I should have that within a few hours and ill confirm with you!!

Did this ever get sorted? Can the 2013 roadster tune be loaded on the 2012 roadster ECM? Will it have a "similar" effect to removing the secondaries or using Tune ECU to open them?

I have a 2011 Roadster fitted with the accessory mufflers (TOR's) and the Triumph tune to suit. So are they saying that my bike has been unrestricted as a result of this Tune?

You can check it with TuneECU. Go to the TuneECU web site, download the program, and get the recommended cable for $20 US. You will be able to upload the tune in the ECU. The secondaries table values should be mostly 100%. If not, you can change them all to 100% and load that tune into your ECU.

Don't know if your dealer will load the unrestricted tune for you but you can do it yourself with TuneECU. You don't need or want to remove the plates. You can't have no plates with the ECU thinking they are closed.

There are some misconceptions here. There is no indication that 2012s or older 2013s will lock out if you use TunECU to download a tune. So you're asking a dealer to take a new unrestricted 2013 tune and put it into an older 2013 vin with a restricted tune. These tunes are conformable. . You can compare them in TuneECU and the only difference is restriction in the 2ndary table. These restrictions are in the stock muffler and tor tune. You can't use the tor tune with stock mufflers, so if your dealer says you can and this will remove the restriction, he's wrong. However there is the issue of what might happen if the dealer tries to load a new 2013 tune into an older 2013. It is conceivable that there is something in the new vin tunes that will affect the old vin ECUs. But there's no reason to deal with this. If you have a 2012 or earlier Roadster or early vin 2013 all you have to do is upload the tune in the ECU using TuneECU, change the values in the 2ndaries table to 100% or exactly match the values in the new unrestricted tune, save the modified tune, and download it back into the ECU. Again, the fueling and timing in the restricted and unrestricted tunes are exactly the same. The only difference is the 2ndaries table. It would help to understand this by just looking at the old and new vin tunes for tors and stock mufflers on the TuneECU site. There's no reason to go through the machinations of having the dealer load the newer unrestricted tune into an older vin with a restricted tune unless you're positive he can do it. You can do it yourself without dealing with the new tunes at all. I changed tunes on my 2012 TBird with no ill effects.
