2013 Rocket 3 Roadster - pre redesign

I am wondering if this same map could be loaded into older Roadsters (mine's a 2012)? Wouldn't this almost negate the need for the GIPRo?
I would not try to load a 2013 roadster map into a 2012 rodster without checking first it might lock up the ecu. if your talking tune ecu I would check with Tom Hamgurg first . There is a Different DLL library you have to download from tune ecu for the 2013 roadster. So The software program might be different and might not be compatible. like whe they added the software for the ABS system. If you lock up your ecu triumph will no you have been trying to hack your way into the ecu. they might void your warranty. it would be better to use the right software and modify the map by copying the timing tabled and pasting them to the lower gears. also you can do some other things to pep her up a bit.

man this morphine is a buzz. makes you have to double think before typing. check with tom first he help you

I am wondering if this same map could be loaded into older Roadsters (mine's a 2012)?

I asked this very question of Triumph Australia. The Technical Manager actually tried it and advised the following;

"In answer to your question, NO YOU CANNOT LOAD THOSE NEW TUNES IN YOUR BIKE if you do the ECU will lock you out. I just tried this in my workshop to be positive about this answer and it locked me out, the bike will not run."

Since Triumph no longer have an issue with releasing all of the power to 2013 R3 owners, yet clearly have an issue with aftermarket tunes, maybe we should lobby them to provide an unrestricted tune for the earlier models to suit standard & aftermarket (TOR) exhaust applications ~ just a thought.

"Hello TuneECU users, I have a welcome message for owners of the current Roadster model 2013, from VIN # 574813.

This model is also compatible with TuneECU
, it just needs the new dll (vers.2.4.2.2) downloaded from the link page on TuneECU and are copied to the directory TuneECU.

What about the announced new Roadster, is currently not clear, whether the model can be used to TuneECU yet may.

BR, Tom"

that is a quote from tom so make darn sure you check your vin numbers!!!

here is the link

thank god for old unfancy rockets:D

I'm in the same boat, purchased a phantom black R3R first week of '13. I actually like the chrome but would have been nice to get a 'heads up' on the 'new delimited 13', still guess that's why they offered a good deal? Oddly enough, when I picked up the machine, the tech at the dealer mentioned something about not being able to upload different tunes to the '13.... I'm hoping Triumph NA sort this, or guess I'll be using TuneECU? The factory exhaust and cats are already gone....

Hey guys. I just got word back from my dealer that they CAN remap my ECU with what would be on the “new” Roadsters. So I’m betting this would also be the case for 2012s but I’ll ask. I hope to have this done this weekend but I’ll post an update after and let you know how it goes!

Good morning!! Ok so we just got the call back from Triumph. The new rocket roadsters have the tune in them that we would use when installing the accessory mufflers. So they are telling us that if we do this download on your bike it will be up to speed as the new ones are. So let me know when you would like to come by and have this done.

I have a 2011 Roadster fitted with the accessory mufflers (TOR's) and the Triumph tune to suit. So are they saying that my bike has been unrestricted as a result of this Tune?

I just brought a new R3R (left over 2012) home last week. I also had the TORs & associated tune installed before it left the dealership. I also wonder exactly what that tune affects. I like the idea of the GIpro's ability to go back to stock if I get caught in a downpour. If my TOR map has opened up the secondaries in the low gears, then I'll forget the GIpro and ride my big touring bike if they're calling for rain :D

So I took my 2013 back to the dealer last night for the new map. First, they attempted to load the map for the newer VIN Rocket. It didn’t lock them out, but the bike wouldn’t start. So they loaded the updated map for my VIN but used the map they got yesterday morning that was for use with the slip-ons. Triumph said that this map also removes the restrictions. I didn’t have much of a chance to test it out after to see if it is noticeable though. Hopefully it did, but so far I just have their word on it.
