Well... It was the battery. Thanks everyone for the input. New YTX20HL-BS and it cranks immediately when touching the start button.

haha Makes me recall how a mechanic who was fitting a new rear tyre for me once responded to me saying "I got 4k miles out of it". He said "you might of got 4k miles out if it, but it only lasted 3k, look at the state of it"!!!
