2007 Rocket III sudden illness has me baffled? Help keep my money out of stealerships pockets.

Anyone know someone who is parting out an R3? I suddenly have an interest in a fuel pump assembly. I have to assume that the ethanol in the old gas did this? Is anyone taking the time to find non-ethanol gas for their bikes?

Ewww.. that'll explain the badly leaking reg then.

Oh and I retract that suggestion that a mouse might have chewed your wires and replace it with some dodgy fuel might have chewed your wires :)

At least we are getting somewhere now...LOL
If you can clean everything up install new filter (I can get the wix brand part number for you) in which you don't have to get it from Triumph..new hoses and get the regulator from leaking you will be good to go. Get it all back together stick the pump in a bucket of gas and connect the leads to a 12v battery charger. I did this to a in tank pump module for a Dodge Ram to make sure I didn't have leaks before installing it back into the tank.
Look online on Ebay if you have to. There are guys ( can't remember their Ebay name) that buy salvage motorcycles from insurance companies, take them apart and sell the parts. You might luck up and get everything you need but you might also have buy a few odds and ends off of places like Bike Bandit. Takes forever to get parts in hand since it comes from the UK.

Yes, these are all good suggestions. I'll check ebay for some parts like the fuel gauge sending unit. I noticed the parts diagram for the fuel pump did not show the pump screen as a separate part? Is it only available with a new pump? I'll take that number from you please on the new filter, thanks!!

Yup, that's exactly what caused the mess.

I am lucky enough to have a station about a mile from home that has pure gas. I still give it a dose of Stabil 360 just incase.

Here's a good resource
pure-gas.org

I try to put ethanol fuel in the bike as seldom as possible.

Yup, that's another nasty example of ethanol in our gas. I too am lucky to have a station near that sells "recreation" gas, non-ethanol. Cost more, but well worth it, especially after looking at these parts. And about testing in a bucket of gas, I'd be very careful of sparks, run the wires far away from the bucket! Also be very careful when putting that assembly back into the tank. Some people have twisted off those little studs. They can be replaced, but a pain to do. ;)

OK, I wanted to report that all those back-firing & sputtering issues were indeed caused by the old ethanol gas. It had ate up all the rubber bits inside the gas tank. The only parts inside that miraculously survived was the fuel pump(I can't believe it either!) and the fuel pump screen. All five of the high pressure hose bits were hardened into fragile plastic like pieces along with the fuel pump vibration dampeners. Even the O'ring on the pressure regulator was ruined, and lastly it swelled the plastic on the gas gauge so much, it broke the insides? What saved me a bunch of cash was being able to buy the submersible fuel line online, the stainless steel clamps and the WIX fuel filter from Amazon. Thanks for the aftermarket info guys!!! Pic here show what it was supposed to look like coming out of the tank, verses what I had come out of my tank.

Well, that's a bummer, but not too hard to fix. Do you have a link to the submersible fuel line? Most auto stores are clueless. :)
OK, found some on Amazon. Quite expensive for 1 foot of hose though. I order 1 5/16" and 1 3/8" just to have on hand, the next time I have to open one up.

Cooter; what's the size for the inside the tank short pieces?
