LOVE IT. Very smooth going down the highway. Hard take offs are great and very stable. Turns and corners are just a blast even with the car tire. The only draw back is rough roads where the pavement is hollowed out from heavy loads and the tire gets stuck in the groove. Figured out a way to avoid that problem. Do not ride in the groove basically pretty simple. Love the traction in wet weather very stable. Some folks on here claim that traction is not improved with a car tire installed. Bull$rap. Wet pavement traction is dramatically improved and that is comparing it to running Avon's. My bike is stock other than playing with the rev limit and will only get up to around 131 mph but after adjusting the air pressure in the tires the wobble is gone. SOLD. :p:p:p:p:p:p

What size and brand tire did you install? What pressure are you running? What model Rocket do you ride? Who installed your tire on the rim? Any problems with that? Pics please!

You live in some pretty flat and straight road territory.
You do high mileage. You have no need to justify your car tire.
That you feel your motor is not a toy and merely a necessity for daily transportation, is sad and I feel for you.
My approach is quite the opposite. I ride 12 to 15 K miles primarily on long trips around our beautiful country for PURE enjoyment!
Looking forward to meeting you in Texas, Amigo.

Obviously we got a couple people who are too scared to venture out Beyond. I have over 12,000 miles on my passenger vehicle tired and will never ever go back to spending so much. It's an insane amount of money for a tire that only last 8 to 10k miles. For me, that's a year or less. Gentleman don't be scared lose the fear time to gain some wisdom.

Never had a car tire on a motorcycle so, I have no opinion on the subject. I do find the mileage and cost issue interesting. Before buying the R3T, my first cruiser type bike, I was accustomed to getting 4-6K miles out of a set of tires and normally replacing them 2-3 times a year. I found the 10K I got out of the Avons and Metzlers to be a bargain. All a matter of perspective I guess.

Purely addressing the safety standpoint, does anyone have direct experience or first-hand knowledge of any CT blowing out on any motorcycle?

Nothing to be scared about. My wife and I did over 2,500 miles is summer to up through the Blue Ridge Parkway, Tail of the Dragon and many other roads throughout Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia and many more. I ride over 10,000 miles a year on the bike through many twists and turns. You can spend. $250 + mounting and balancing or you can spend $100 and ride 3 or 4 years. I guess some have done much better than I have in Obama's economy. Do yourself a favor and don't let fear stop you from a great ride and experience. After all you are a biker aren't you

Simple math. You can spend 250 Plus a year or you can spend $100 and ride for 3 or 4 years. Some let fear stop them from making good decisions and others don't ride enough to let it matter.

Again, I think its a matter of perspective. For me $250 a year ($21 a month) wouldn't be enough to sway me one way or another. Like I said, I never had a car tire on a motorcycle so I can't speak to the performance aspects. I do know that I found that the Avons performed at least up to and probably way beyond my abilities so I never saw any reason to try anything else. Kind of the if it ain't broke why try to fix it mentality.
