I have had both my Rockets up at 130mph and the only thing floating around was my head, but as i am a real man no windshields are allowed on my bike so if you have one throw it away and check your tyres and head bearing.
Ok so thats the first three gears I guess you haven't got on it hard yet :D

Wow! Thanks for all the advice. Definitely checking the fork first.

Tires are new with the right pressure and I'm a real man too... I don't use windshield. (That sounded funny)

I had two '08 Tourings, and the first one, which I bought new, had a rubber bushing failure in the handlebar mounts. This made the front end pretty squirrely.

Triumph took care of it on warranty. But I don't really think the Tourings are intended for much beyond 180 kph. Maybe 200ish would be the sane limit without modifications to streamline it a bit.

Thanks for the tip. Really don't intend to ride at that speed much or anytime soon. Until I find my balls back again where I dropped it somewhere along the freeway.

I love the Touring for a solid 80 to 100 mph platform. It feels like it is loafing at 100 mph. At higher speeds, I want something with better aerodynamics, like my ZX14R (which is capable of 300 kph, and so is pretty doggone stable at 200 kph). That's just me.

I like mine at 100 mph for ten yards or ten miles it never gives any problems at that speed. I don't like riding any bike with a big windshield at speeds higher than 110 mph, I do it sometimes but I always think the windshield might break a mount or something and slap me in the face. If I want to go fast like 120 or faster I do it without a windshield. The stock Rocket Touring loves 80 or 90 mph for extended mileage with a passenger and I'm happy with that.

More than likely it's the windshield causing it..... if you have one installed. However I had a bad experience with brand new Avon tire on front. Did exactly like you described. Put a Metz tire on front and it was all good.

130 is that all!

Ahhh come on now that Carp Roadster needs to be stretched out every so often.

warp9 is rolling in the floor laughing I bet! :D

EDIT: I just saw warp's post...:D

Im offended!!:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

It's the bike, most likely the fork mounted windshield, maybe bags too. I chased all the usual stuff, it's just unstable at high speeds, kind of a slow back and forth rotation along it's longitudinal axis, right? I think the wind builds up on the windshield, and spills left and right. That and maybe the tire cupping, new tires are better for 1000-1500 miles. Starts anywhere between 120 and 140 mph for me, never really gets worse, but scary the first few times.

I'm guessing Triumph knew, hence the low speed limiter and lower rated tires on the Touring vs Standard/Roadster, doesn't seem to affect Non- Touring bikes.
well the standard windscreen is not designed to run 120mph or more you need a more streamlined shield to run high speeds I run the clear sports screen an both my Rockets and they work great but you must be tucked in behind it to escape the wind blast .
