Funny you mentioned that. On my return from Placerville (old hangtown) I noticed a huge amount of new housing, Condos and businesses going up in all directions along side of SR 50 up to Sacramento. Up until the last 3 years or so building was slow. Now it's on fire and there is no where to run. If you haven't been here in 5 years you wouldn't recognize this 100 square mile area. It's gridlock.

Sounds like fires in the suburbs may have a similar occurrence and effect in California and down here in Oz now and into the future with the drying warming climate extending fire seasons and intensity.
