Which wire to tap for switched power?

I gave in and purchased the fz1 fuse box. The dealer is literally in a neighbouring town so I should get it soon in the mail!

I can do up the wiring. But still would like to see where I could find a good switched source. Barbagris you mentioned some wiring for heated grips and auxiliary lights. Can you tell me how to find them or maybe a picture? I've looked under the tank but only briefly and didn't see any open plugs that were obvious.

I did install a 12v plug on my left side and I found a blue wire with a empty end, I think that's for that DIN plug right? Would the other plug look similar?

By the way the plug looked like it was filled with something waxy or greasy. Is that to protect the terminals?

VERY VERY UNLIKELY - Triumph have taken into account that the average user or mechanic may not be a fully qualified Auto-electrician - so have pretty much used a different plug/socket for each and every different thing.

Can I ask - Do you have ANY original Triumph add ons? - i.e FOG LIGHT/HEATED GRIPS/CLOCK/FUEL GAUGE? - It will make the process of recommendation EASIER. You have two options - Switched general and switched (lighting circuit) - depends what you intend to add.

For example you'd be dumb to fit a PC5 triggered by the lights circuit as the lights get switched off when you turn the engine over.

I've double checked my bike over and it appears to be 100% stock. It only has 500kms on it from the previous owner. So I am assuming all those connectors are still there. I am looking for the right type of wire to use for my FZ1 fuseblock, it needs a switched power source to activate the relay for the devices I want turned off when the ignition is off. I'm hoping theres something like a brake light wire somwhere near the battery compartment I can get to easily?

I agree about the PC5 triggered on the Light circuit LOL!
 
Give me until Thursday - I have no way to get decent photos until then - "God's Light is best". I have to strip tinware off to do some wiring research as it is. I would use one under the tank or I think there's one for the Californian EVAP system on the left side - I'll follow through the wiring diagram later today too.

I used the plug for the ACCESSORY CLOCK plug to feed my relay. But I'm probably changing. I 'll explain why, if and when I do.
 

That would be great Barbagris, thank you so much. It would be great to find a wire that is easily accessible near the battery for the switched power for my fuseblock. I can definitely take care of the rest!

You mean one of those "posi-tap" things? I have no idea where to get them around my town.. I'll have to see If I can find them locally...otherwise I'll have to order a bunch online, i'm sure the shipping will be far more expensive them the plugs themselves!

But I shall wait for your response before taking any action. Thanks again!
