Just ran across this and thought you may be interested. Found several other similar posts as well:
"Yes, find a different place to watch fireworks. There haven't been any fireworks shows at Mt. Rushmore in recent years due to the pine beetle infestation. It has killed many trees and the risk of forest fires is too great. The infestation is the worst in the central part of the Black Hills. Therefore, there are other communities in the Black Hills that offer fireworks. Sorry! They do have a lighting show."

Independence Day Events

Planning for Mount Rushmore National Memorial's Independence Day celebration will begin in early 2016.

Fireworks are no longer a part of the celebration at Mount Rushmore. The full schedule of events will be posted here in early June, 2016.
