What tyres are you running?

CK that is an excellent power point presentation along with the cut away view of the motorcylce tire. I must admit I new nothing of this tech stuff I only had my opinion of how it felt when I put one on mine for an emergency spare instead of paying a roll back a couple hundred dollars or more to pack my bike 155 mile home. With are rims it is easy to do it that way. I also ran it for a while to form an opinion but once the new MC showed up it went on in place of the CT. I must read some more before I put my foot in my mouth

I personally know of a hundred or so darksiders simply from two US and one Aussie forum. There would have to be a thousand+ car tire bikes in the US alone. Even a minor misadventure would be immediately splashed over every forum in the world by the non darksiders and I've never seen anything.

HEY HOW MUCH would pay for a NEW TIRE that will give you 20+ hp and make your bike handle like its 200lbs lighter and feel like a sports bike ????

your probably right Pete 1000 in the USA and 10 times that or more have a bike tires. As Lester said run what you want its all good. Plenty people do things in the US and all over the world I don't agree with. Have a great and safe ride on which ever you like its all good!

Some people even ride Harley's we Rocket Captains no they're crazy but we don't try to change them either.

I agree with you 100%. Nothing beats real world experience. What I stated way back in the beginning of this thing is it's just hard for "me" to consider a car tire after all I've been exposed to in my past. Everything that is designed into a car tire contradicts what you are trying to do with it on a motorcycle. I think the light weight of the motorcycle has a lot to do with the lack of actual car tire failures on motorcycles.
I don't think there is a thing wrong with running a car tire on a motorcycle. I wish i could do it. But, i just can't.
I've never been on a Rocket with a car tire. Hopefully I'll get a chance some day.
I also stated way back that I'm not in this to win it. Just sharing the facts as I know them for all to consider and make choices.

Hi Pete,
I watched the darkside RIII video. I swear I can see him counter steering to fix a wiggle on a number of the curves. But, I could be wrong.
Most likely I'm seeing what my eyes are telling me to see....
Good video.....but, no sale.

CK since you live in the area of Triumph Phil he will probably let you take it for atest drive as he let Art on Saturday. You might have to do it a couple times to allow you to make a good viable decision. Had there been someone in my are with one I am sure I would have tried it a long time ago. But the only one around here has a R3T which IMO is a different animal as it has a much narrower rim then the standard and Classic as mine. I did try it on mine after I had a blow out at first I said this is a pain and if it was not enjoyable why keep it up. But after posting on the two ssites .net and .com it seemed to me that I did not give it a fair shake having only put 200 miles on it. So I figure if I was going to take it off I might as well try it for a while longer. %00 miles and my new MC was on the porch I gave it some more thought and figured I was not happy with the performance on her. I ride very agressively and simply put I could not do the things I did with the MC whether it eas a metz. or a cobra. so off she came. and back to my style of riding 150 mph at least once a day usually on the way home from work. and a whole lot of 100 plus screwing around with my buddy and he busa. Strangely enough I spank the my buddy all the time but I believe it is because of the road conditions which are a wee bit ruff. Not pot holes but bumpy tarvy you know tar and 3/8 minus ( like pee gravel) I think the Rocket handle them roads better because of its weight, it seemed to shake the piss out of my friends busa which he is a missle on the flat roads. Around here is all farm land so its pretty flat not many twisties. Thats probably why I am not the best on twisties there no where to practice. I don't scrape my hero blobs on the road infact I have only scraped them twice and I was moving real slow. If you get the chance you might as well try it. I must say with a 245 like I had it looks like a beast infact some people made that comment. The 225 would have been better for me to try but hey its over and I am staying with the MC. Thanks for the information though I always wondered about the belts on both styles of tires it was very informative. In fact the good thing about argueing is I got to type back and forth with Lester who is not that far away and he rides with some Harley dudes so I will be able to look fast no matter what around the hogs.

Lester after recovery I will be hitting you up to show me some of the roads along the river down by you I think the roads are much more rolling then flat up here.

hahahaha.......if it was me riding the wiggle would probably just be bad riding Carl.....

ps. I'm a bike tire (tyre) rider, but I hope to do a trip round OZ before too long. There is no doubt that I will have a car tire fitted to save the hassle of replacing tires during the trip, plus the added ruggedness on some of the rather tough and remote roads out here....

ahhhhhhh, but one of the "facts", along with all the technical data, is that there has never been a recorded incident with a car tire, while there have been many incidents with bike tires. I hope that will be part of the "facts" that you provide the customer IMFAST
