What tyres are you running?

MT tires

Traction is achieved by making the circumference larger. Thus keeping the tire cooler so it will not melt. Thus creating traction. The wide patch is just for getting great grip off the line. It's quickly lost if the tire gets too hot. So, the tire is designed to get taller and narrower.
Again….I’m just saying that the contact patch is not the only consideration for traction. Dragster tires are 17.5” wide. Why not 30” if contact is the only criteria? Now you wouldn't tell me that a wider tire will do better on wets roads would ya?
YOUR RIGHT AGAIN CK ;) AND youll run a faster and quicker 1/4 mile with a MT than a CT on a ROCKET

Two tires

Okay...I admit the dragster tire might have been a bad example. But, the fact is the dragster needs two different tire configurations just to run 1/4 mile. At least that was the standard before they figured out they could not get them stopped in time. So they shortened the run.
You start out short and fat and end up tall and narrow. So, the tire is designed to change configurations as the conditions change.
We can't do that with a motorcycle. Sure, the ct will stop better on dry surfaces. But, we can't change the tire every time we want to stop.
The engineers of mc tires have designed them to operate the best under a wide array of circumstances. Compromising in some areas to meet expectations across all operating conditions. Not an easy task.
Again, it’s up to the rider to decide which tire attributes best suit their riding style. There is no wrong answer….just different choices.
Take a look at this example from Michelin with regards to tire configurations:
Scroll down to page six to see sport tire comparisons. You'll see the different configurations they use for the desired use.

Whats sonasty trying to find some one who has had his bike on a dyno with a motorcycle tire. Who has switched to a car tie and has not done any other mods since the first dyno to take a couple pulls and se what the readings are? I don't understand I believe you will loose some power but could be wrong a test would put it to rest. It really does not matter to me but I am curious still the same. Helfire whats the fight over when these things could be checked even if the bike has predator pies and triple filters it does not matter as long as the same mods are there for ach test pull. Liek Lester said he does not care he likes his with the car tire and won't switch. AS for what triumph says about warrantee I bet if mine was still under warrantee and he new I had a blower he would deny it quicker then stink on crap:( Or at least I think he would.
One thing for sure Hellfire it aint worth getting pissed about when a couple runs could show whats happening. even if it looses power it might be 20hp it might be 10 hell it might only be 5. If it looses power it might very with the weight of the tire it might not.
Were all captains here calling people names is just well not in the spirit of the site which is to learn and get to know each other. I am glad I found a small site dedicated to not bashing each other for this one and the .com and in some cases the rat.net site ( very rare over there as the site is closely muzzled by the administrator. **** Art just new Phil had the oportunity and well thats to late as phil has changed his already. Phil wanted it to happen at Carpenter racing but so many people bash that shop that Art did not feel they would believe it no matter what the answer was.
