What tyres are you running?

Great Day!

I had a great ride today through most of PA with a very good friend. He just bought a new Honda Fury. Their new chopper. It's a very nice bike. Bigger in person then it looks on the web. He had the wheels chromed.
But.....every time we stopped for fuel the onlookers still wanted to check out my old Rocket.

Cruisin

So did everyone meet up and ride today? Are we all friends now?

I do hope you're talking about your motorbike, Carl.....

Pete

ps beautiful autumn day here in Sydney...75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky...had a ride up north about an hour or so and sat on a marina having egg and bacon rolls and coffee with a bunch of old buggers. The bulls--t was flowing so much I actually expected someone would stand up and walk across the water to show some of the claims were possible. Then a good 3 hour ride following the river on the way back, across a couple of car ferries and home. Doesn't get much better (unless I had a car tire on the back)

G'day Pete.. Ah groovy i'm just out at Livo.. Anyways, It's good to know there's locals to have a chat to about rockets... Alrighty mate i'll leave ya to it.. Have a good one..

Cartires

HEY BOYS you need to listen to CK his business is tires so he can tell you whatever you need to know about the misapplication of CAR TIRES

Car Tire Cutaway

I've studied the darkside videos. It's what is going on inside the tire that matters.
Here is a cutaway of a car tire. As you will see the belts in the tire are designed to keep the tire flat on curves. They are even reenforced. On a MC you would be riding up on the belt edge on heavy leans. That is the most common area of car tire falures. It's called belt edge seperation. Remember the Firestone 500. Pow! Plus, they blamed Firestone for the belt seperations on the Ford Explorers. I still think it was the vehicle, not the tire.
Go to this link: Plus there is a lot of tire information on the power point presentation. It's on page 12 if you get caught on a different slide. Cooper car tire.

Now take a look at this Michelin MC tire cutaway:
Do you see the difference? The belts wrap around.

Yes...i agree the car tire will do better on dry stops.
Again....I don't care what you run. It's just information you can use if so inclined.

No leaning in turns

YES CK it would be OK if you didnt have to lean over for the turns
