What motivates you?

I may have to come down to Lost Wages and check out your bikes. :) I mean buy you a stogie and a beer! :)

You can stop by if you're here. I have had V8 bikes for over 8 years and can point out the good and the bad about each model. I would never be without one as long as I can ride. Like the Rocket they are different from normal bikes but once
you ride one you become hooked. The Rocket is very much the same in that way. I really like the Rocket, its an addictive bike, it isn't quite as powerful as a V8 bike but it has more torque than any other bike I've ridden and unlike the V8 bikes it stops quicker and handles better. The V8 bikes have automatic transmissions, once you get used to that it becomes great, how many people order a new car today with a stick shift. However I sometimes miss the clutch and gears and downshifting and engine braking, so the Rocket fills that need for a more traditional motorcycle with enough power to still thrill my ass. Hopefully I never buy another new bike or have to sell any of the ones I have.
 
Actually I wish it wasn't there but to make an effort to remove it or cover it says that I hate Harley Davidson which isn't really true. The bag is good, if Harley recognized that and bought a bunch from China for a buck a piece and glued their
emblem on it and sold it for 110 dollars and the other guys didn't so be it. I would like it better if it didn't say anything but I still liked it well enough to buy it. I also like Harleys, and I like lots of other bikes too. I don't believe that my Triumph
makes me above anybody any more than a Harley owner is above anybody. I do think the Triumph is a better bike but I think a Kenworth is better than a Mack, who cares.

Two good buddies (both riding Harley Softails) and I were on a trip.
They both needed some repairs so we stopped at a Harley dealer called Birds of Prey in Idaho.
While waiting, I saw a nice pair of highway pegs in a box - I looked and no bar and shield markings were evident.
Mounted them on my motor and we continued our trip. At the next gas stop they started laughing at me something terrible!
So bad that I though my fly must have been open with my clam hammer hanging out!
I learned the new pegs had the bar & shield prominently stamped into the end caps of each peg!
I left them on and have caught a lot of teasing ever since. :D

Oh well its all in fun. I will take a little abuse from some of my friends about it for awhile and after they get tired of saying whatever I'll do
something to get back at them. Maybe I'll order some kind of British or Triumph patch if I find one and have it sewn on where the Harley patch is. Then I'll
show up on our monthly ride. I'll tell them that the Chinese sissy bar bag I got from Harley fell apart so I found this one at the Triumph shop
for half the price, the shop said they never had anyone complain about them but if it ever falls apart to bring it back and they
will give me a new one. LOL
 
I have always been a power junkie. We raced enduro's and cross country (hare scrambles) at 12 I talked my Dad in to letting me race his 501 Maico, Our Dirt bikes were always European (KTM, Maico, Husky) so while at a "Dealer Days" at a local Indian Dealer they had a used Rocket III I want to test ride it and was hooked. Found one I liked and bought it, happy as a clam.
Hey slyanide . I too grew up on dirt bikes racing schoolboy motocross and then competing in the southwest England masters on a kx 500 in 1984 . Still did the occasional enduro's up to quite recently . I find the power delivery very similar between the rocket and that old kx500 which I still have . Your right , there is nothing quite like it for easy comfortable grins !
 
This is not a pro Yamaha post or an anti Rocket post. I love my Rocket more than I have liked most any bike I have ever owned. This is a What Motivates you post. Motorcycles motivate me. I like or lust or love most bikes that are fun, fast , and exciting. I just came across this ad for the New FZ-10 this morning and it got my blood flowing. Mostly above the waist, but I felt a few pulses below. When a new bike is introduced I love to investigate it the best I can. It motivates me to consider adding it to my dream garage (if I had a pile of money) . I am sure there are a few other things that motivate me, I just cant put my finger on them at this time. The torque is amazing and everything happens with low rpms, really my favorite bike even though its pretty much useless for anything except going fast or around town riding.

One thing I really like about the V8 Chopper is how controllable it is when you break the back tire loose. Its long and super low so it takes the rear end a long time to come around compared to most bikes so its real easy to
controls it. If you want to make the bike really go fast you got to be good at throttle management in order to hook up and not break loose. It sounds like a dragster because it has no mufflers in its four pipes and since it has
only one gear (it doesn't need a low) it just pulls quickly to its redline. It redlines (6000 rpm) at about 165 mph so its a quick ride getting there.

Every time I look at this Auzzie promo poster reminds me why I bought a Rocket.

I love the smoothness of Triumph engineering couple with the brute muscle in the 2300cc motor. The bike is unique whereever it is.
