What do you think about the riding modes? Do you find them useful?

When I first got the bike I used Road to get used to the power & torque, then once I was happy enough riding in that I thought I'd give Sport a try, that's where the Penner Tune resides, there & also Custom. A noticeable difference in acceleration, throttle response was evident using Sport, so switched back to Road. Couple of days later thought I'd give Sport another go, I mean, it's there & awesome, so why not use it? Changed to Sport & left it there, another learning curve but all went well.
I changed back to Road to give it a try after a good while using Sport & the bike felt, well not 'dead' but definitely lacking the crisp throttle response I'd got used to. I now much prefer to ride in Sport mode all the time, it just makes the bike come alive. In rain I do switch to Rain mode though, I do like the power but I don't have a death wish.

Custom mode is set similar to Sport, but with T/C turned off, don't think I'm ready for that yet & am happy with Sport setup. I know I can modify the mode setups, but I'm ok with them as I've got them - for now.

So, in answer to the OP's question, I use "Penner Sport" mode 99% of the time.

I don't like riding modes because there is too much thinking for me going on. Why have a practically different bike at the push of a button? Even when I was up in the Seattle area last fall I left it in sport mode. Now that I have the Penner tune on it I still have rain mode as an option but never tried it. I should though just the get a direct comparison between that and unrestricted. I think learning to adapt to conditions as the rider is far more valuable.

There’s a mode other than Sport? Huh. I guess if most of yall aren’t wearing your Depends then Road mode is for you but I’m Sport mode all day everyday.

Do you switch riding modes around? What modes do you personally use and when?
I've only had the R3R bike a couple of weeks and I think I will leave in Sport mode. My throttle hand, along with 45 years of riding experience ensure that I will adjust to conditions accordingly. I do leave the traction control on though, I am not stupid!

Have not yet tried in sports mode. Going to give myself 2 more months of road mode to get used to the bike, just in case. Now 1.7k miles in.

When I got the bike, I though I'd ride in rain mode for a month or so. But I found myself stalling the bike at times when trying to take off from stop signs. Was a new bike, I was afraid to rev it too much, not to take off too quickly beyond my control (in my mind), it is a huge engine bike... Then I thought of putting it in road mode and the whole experience kinda clicked together. I think in rain mode from stop in 1st gear, you really need to roll on more of throttle.

I agree with ya, change modes when you're ready & confident. They're too much coin to be throwing them down the road.
