Finally after chemo, knee replacement and total shoulder replacement and it is below 110 degrees in the garage I got to work to change the fuel filter, among other things. Imagine my surprise when I pulled it out and the Ethanol gods had left me a gift. The baffle that holds the stainless Chore Boy had essentially melted and disintegrated. I think I got it all out of the tank so now I can wait until Hermrys (or someone with the parts) opens and give them a call. But I do believe this is what would allow the bike to start and idle but as soon as you crack the throttle is said, no, not enough gas. Hopefully the cooler weather prevails and I can get everything done. It is getting cool enough to ride and I want to get out there.

WARRIOR! Way to win Bob! The parts no biggie, if you have trouble i probably have a boot. Way to kick butt on all the other stuff and getting back on road. Congratulations

I may have to take you up on that but I won't know for a few days. Hermy's website won't open up but I did find a pump assembly. I am just going to replace from the fuel filter to the end out of an abundance of caution. It is the do it now so you know it is good or put it back together and find out you were wrong, don't want that to happen.

Well, it could have hurt a lot more. I have decided to replace all of the consumables as well as the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator while I have it torn apart. Using a fuel pump from Fuel Pump Factory (80ish bucks) and the rest of the parts priced out from Adept Power Sports it will run around 250 USD. It could have been a lot worse if I had needed to do an Triumph OEM pump (217 USD).

I only wish I could find ethanol free gas in my area at a pump, but it doesn't exxist around here.

* edit to the price. I fat fingered an extra zero. It is 250 not 2500.

Well, while waiting on parts I figured I would tackle the cam cover gasket because of a tiny bit of seepage on one corner. We'll, if I am going there I may as well replace the plugs. I think the burn is ok on these. 3-2-1 left to right. It feels good after two years to be turning a wrench again!

As I still wait for a couple of parts I decided to take what little bit of rust in the tank away, so today's revelation is that while the spec says the tank will hold 5.89 gallons I think it is closer to 5.75 gallons. I still needed the 6 gallons of vinegar, I will use the leftover to make weed killer with.
