holy crap this thread started march 2006!!! welcome all 36 pages of us

I have had my Rocket for two years. I am a hands on guy. One of the most notable observations I have made about this motorcycle is the irregular placement of good and poor quality components in this bikes construction. Chrome covered plastic for the mirrors and rad shroud. Hefty gauge steel on fenders and side cover and tinfoil for the fuel tank. Stainless steel hardware on the exhaust components without any protection from galling. Notable oil leaks from reservoir "O" rings and other places. Major service intervals needed every year in the form of valve clearance shimming. Tire size , consumption rate, availability and pricing. They are a bastard size that isn't stocked readily. They consume at a rate of two rear tires a summer and they are $500 a piece. Notable engine blow by at 47000km. And for a motorcycle with such incredible performance values they can't fully be used without modifying the dynamic of the bike. Anything above 220 kph and the front end gets light. Having said that though this is the most exhilarating motorcycle I have ridden in twenty five years. But I can get the same performance values for considerably less money by getting a different bike. I will consider getting another one when the build quality improves but for now I have mine sold in a couple of days and will be replacing it with a bike of similar performance but considerably better build.

Then why introduce your self go have fun on your new bike sorry it was not to your likeing but sounds like you had a lot of trouble out of yours it happens from time to time with any bike but for the most part there great bikes could be that you just dont know how to ride or take care of it you might be better of with a Honda 250

The reason I wrote that description of my experience wasn't to slam the motorcycle. It was to share my experience . Perhaps mine was made on a Friday. I'm truly glad for the most part everyone seems to have good experiences with this bike. My business affords me the facility and equipment to refurbish and maintain to a higher standard. I deal with assessing vehicle quality every day. Sorry my observations were not to your liking

I can truely say that I have been on this forum for about a year and that was the first negative exchange I have read. I have an 05 I have noticed a small o ring oil leak, fixed that and between 135-140 mph I get a little wobble and it does feel lite in the front at that speed.... thanks for sharing your experience with this great machine.
@Watcher..from one brother to another ...have you seen my little dog..

I am Dave from Minnetrista Minnesota. I don't have a Rocket yet, maybe this summer. I was smitten when I saw one at a motorcycle show. I am disappointed in the lack of color choices on the new models. I may have to get it painted in the off season if I buy one. I currently ride a 1998 Honda Valkyrie so as you can see I like big bikes and BIG motors. I haven't ridden a Rocket yet but I will when spring comes. Thanks for all the nice responses to my earlier questions. Nice folks here.

Everything happens for a reason. Mcgoo, I'm so grateful that the Rocket wasn't to your liking and sincerely hope that it stays that way. There's a perfect little scooter out there for you somewhere I'm sure.
