My sentiments exactly. Complaining about a bike that wears out a rear tire two times a summer is more of a compliment than not. I know of no bikes that are of similar performance especially at less cost. Smells funny here for some reason don't ya' think? Maybe a jealous HD rider?

Hi my name is 1olbull and I'm a Rocketaholic!
I wore out 4.5 tires in 6 weeks last summer (2 front & 2.5 rear).

Do alcoholics complain about how many bottles they empty????????
Buy my book!

:eek::roll::roll::thumbsup:

I can truely say that I have been on this forum for about a year and that was the first negative exchange I have read. I have an 05 I have noticed a small o ring oil leak, fixed that and between 135-140 mph I get a little wobble and it does feel lite in the front at that speed.... thanks for sharing your experience with this great machine.
@Watcher..from one brother to another ...have you seen my little dog..

bought my bike DEC. 2012,did 9000 km trip last summer through Quebec,New Brunswick ,Nova Scotia , Newfoundland,up to Red bay Labrador, CA and back to Ontario in three weeks. no problems except wore out rear tire down to the belts. two up riding whole trip with luggage. Is tire wear this fast normal on these bikes? .enjoy the bike would like to find a set of chrome pannier rails for it but they seem to be near impossible to locate even used ones. if anyone knows of any for sale would appreciate if you would let me know. also any info on gel seats for the r3t any info from experience and personal preferences , this bike was bought with plans of covering north america in the future years. Thanks in advance for any assistance. wayne

Welcome Wayne!
Sounds like you already have a handle on riding your butt off!
Check out the "Easy Brackets". I have used them on three motors and they work great.
Easy off for the holel room and easy on for heading out in the morning and they don't leave hardware hanging around when you want to ride clean.

Where you live, with the cool weather you have most of the time, a gel seat might be fine, but know this, if left in direct sunlight for as little as an hour, the gel inserts can become almost unbearably hot.

And, oh yes, welcome to the forum from Sunny South Florida. Hope you enjoy your time here with us!

Hello Wayne and welcome from Virginia. I'm not sure about your tires, but my new tires are holding up well at 4,000 miles right now but most of my riding is one up. Many people here recomend the Excedra Max for your rear tire.

Welcome Wayne. There's lots of info on here about seats and tyres, so with a little digging you'll find plenty of food for thought. Plenty of us with Standard/Classic/Roadster prefer the Exedra Max rear tyre, but we've only got 3 to choose from - and only Metzler and Avon are the correct size. There's a lot more choice with the touring so worth researching a little.

Welcome to the site from New Jersey, Wayne!

As Boog stated the best option today for a rear tire is the Bridgestone Exedra Max. It should cost you about 30% less than an OEM Metzeler and last approximately 15-20% longer. There are also better options for the front tire, but we'll cross that bridge when we have to! BTW, I recommend balancing with Dyna Beads. Here are the factory specs & propoganda:
