(Urgent) Bevel box/diff cap weeping - please help

Thanks for all your help - I'll check the levels and refill it once more if needs be, then I'll have a go at opening her up if all else fails

No problem and I am not trying to freak you out. I do not have a new bike so not ABS I can not speak to how much extra that is to pull the wheel. but the bevel box once the wheel is off is only a shock bolt and 4 bevel box bolts. If the box is not low on oil then ride her and see if she continues to leak. make sure she is level as if you tilt the bike to the left you will be getting a false reading and could be adding to much. Good luck.

Thanks mate - I have all the tools I'd need but it's a backyard job, so no hoists or mounts.. I did make sure it was level prior to filling so I doubt it's overfilled but it doesn't hurt to go again

Probably an obvious thing but anyhow have you checked the oil level after riding and the oil is hot with the bike sitting level if oil runs out over the filler plug threads just put something to catch the oil and walk away and let it find the correct level ,if you live in a cold area the thick gearbox oil can cling onto the gears above the oil filler plug and when hot mix in and give an overfull symptom ,bearing in mind how little the oil capacity of the unit is a few Mils can make a difference ,I overfilled mine once by just putting the filler plug in with a slight bit coming out thinking a little extra might help and it spat it out the breather after a few Klms,

I do live in an incredibly cold area, but the bike was cold when I changed the oil. Perhaps I'll just clean the box now and keep an eye on it/levels before I try refilling?

Thats is what I would do although your down under somehow incredibly cold seems impossible unless your at the in Antarctica
