Ride a VN2000 for 16 years. You’ll start to get it
It’s because if the clutch cable isn’t adjusted exactly properly, or it gets worn and can stretch a tiny bit. And as hard as we may try to hold the lever in while we sit there. We all even a little, unconsciously let it out n in. Even if you can’t feel the plates engaging, they’re still making contact, and causing wear.
I was a little afraid to use it at first. I even shut it off so I wouldn’t accidentally engage it. I was already used to hill starts on an even bigger bike. So thought I didn’t really need the HH feature. Turned out that the way the Triumph tries to “ pre-engage “ the clutch, and the fact the bike’s so quiet, started giving me a lot of trouble on hill starts. I started using the HH feature. And once I got used to it, I soon fell in love with it. Only draw back for me is that using HH all the time has now made it tricky for me to “ clutch n brake it” on my other bike. Are y'all using your hill hold feature?
No wiser words were ever spoken. If u can't hold the clutch in for a few minutes then put it in neutral
If the lever/cable is out of adjustment then adjust it or u wear out something
U could pull the clutch in and put it in first and let it run for 5 days and not hurt the clutches
I am having trouble getting the knack to get it to engage when I want it to.I was a little afraid to use it at first. I even shut it off so I wouldn’t accidentally engage it. Just give the brake lever a quick hard pull. Same to disengage.I am having trouble getting the knack to get it to engage when I want it to.
