Transmission problem

That is good to hear. Keep a eye on the clutch free play if it is not right you will not get full gear engaugement. if it starts popping out of second gear it will most likley be in need of the new style gear cluster and a few belllevill washers. With any luck it will not be that. Now matter what oil you use even synthetic which is good stuff if it starts to shift rough that is a sign of it needing a oil change. What brand and weight of oil did you use if I may ask. ALso pleas verify if it is a 06 I beleieve you stated it was. and if so is it a classic or standard? Good to hear she is acting better my friend.

I used Mobil 1 15/50 full synthetic. I don't know if it is a classic or standard. The paint I believe is factory. Pic below.

\\2006 Rockets standard SE with tribal blue a good looking machine. It does not have floor boards does it?

Thanks. I was convinced my next bike was going to be matte finish, if not black something without clear coat. Also I didn't want a lot chrome. I have always been a person that loves to ride. I have never been much into cleaning and polishing. Funny how things turn out.

It has floor boards up front added by previous owner.

Strange thing with 06
It could be both a standard and a classic
My buddy ordered a standard black on black
But his was a classic that they stripped to a standard
Had classic bars a classic kick stand
The way to tell exactly in the motor number
If it is smtcool it's a standard if its smtco1l it's a classic
That is how we knew all standards were smtc00l

That "clunk" is a must!

I should have said mine only ever popped out if I was accelerating hard. Did it about 3 times before I worked out why. You just need to hear/feel that clunk as it goes into 1st to be sure.

I've had mine pop out of 1st a couple of times, and it was always in traffic when I was impatient and not making sure it was fully in 1st....so that clunk is important. I have trained myself to snick it into 1st just before a full stop and that seems to help also

I always chalked the take off slip as my fault for not getting it into gear well when traveling through neutral from 1st to 2nd. But last year she started popping out of the higher gears in mid cruise when I put a heavy load on her (passing uphill mountain for instance). Has definitely happened in both 4th and 5th. Sounds like it may be spring problem?? She's already running full synth from her last change at triumph (less than a year and 6K miles at the time). Maybe it was from sitting on that blasted ship traveling across the Atlantic?
