I installed a set of TORS on my R3T today. I am very happy with the sound. Not too much just adds a little throaty sound. Here is my question...., I believe I am supposed to change the tune but do I really need to? The new pipes really seemed to open up the motor. The throttle is very responsive and it feels like I have more snap in the midrange. I was not expecting such a drastic change. The bike seems to be running great. I am hesitant to make any changes. Have any of you had this experiance with these pipes?

Appreciate any and all thoughts.

Did you have the pipes installed at a dealership? And, if so, did the dealer install the corresponding tune for the pipes. If again, yes, that is mostly responsible for the increased performance. You've eliminated the catalytic converters, and added better fueling. Thus, better performance.

If you installed the pipes yourself, either go directly to the dealer to get the tune updated, or purchase a Tuneboy and do it yourself.

Or install a PC 3 or DoBeck EFI controller.
I've done alot to mine, and the DoBeck
is working out better for me than the PC 3
ever did. I did however use the PC 3 O2 eliminator.
Which the need for that is eliminated
if you spend the big bucks on a Tuneboy and laptop..
Me? I've got other stuff to spend my pennies on.

I reread my initial post and realized I was not very clear. I am familiar with tuneboy and do have one. Although...., I do not have the software key for this particular bike yet. I did install the TORS myself, it took all of 15 minutes. I am aware of the need to download the proper fuel map. After installing the pipes,I was quite surprised to notice such a significant improvement in engine performance. I did not notice that much of an improvement when removing the cat and installing TORS on my old standard R3. I also did not care for the sound, my old R3 sounded like a John Deere.

The R3T with TORS has a much better sound (IMO) My question was an attempt to find out if anyone else installed TORS on their R3T and noticed similar differences in engine performance. Also did they remap the ECU? What were the results of the remap?

With the new TORS installed on the R3T it seems to be running extremely well. There is no popping on deceleration and I do not hear any detonation while under hard acceleration. The engine does not surge. The midrange has significantly more power then before. I was at the dealer today and explained the same. I was told..." if it isn't broke, don't fix it". In other words, leave the tune as it is if it is running well.

Would appreciate hearing of others experiences with the R3T TORS.

I put a set of Raask slip ons on my R3T. Similar to the TORs.

I did a '12 minute' tune at first. then went to the dealer after a few days to have the TORs tune installed.

From what I researched, just putting the pipes on will cause a much leaner fuel mixture. Probably won't cause any harm, but it was strongly recommended that a new tune be installed with an exhaust upgrade.

Yeah, I agree, it should get leaner. It is interesting that I am not getting any symptoms of an overly lean engine. I have not pulled a plug yet though.

How does your R3T run with the Raasks and new tune? Do you notice an improved midrange power? Do you get any popping on deceleration? How did the bike run before you downloaded the tune?

I am going to get a key for my tuneboy so I can play with the tunes and will probably download the correct tune for my bike and see what happens. I was on Wayne's site the other day and it doesn't appear to be many tunes for the R3T. It looks like the tune I would be using is 20258. The stock tune is 20256. (if I recall the numbers correctly) Does that sound about right to you?
