my best guess is exhaust flanges- may need to retorgue the header bolts
and make sure all is tight with the exhaust system. i've never had a bike
that ticked and popped so much while cooling down after a ride.

Various noises have been mentioned by us riders , but the majority of noises seem to be quite natural for this bike . If you at all worried , swing by your dealer and have him have a listen , will put your mind at rest at the least .

Oldskool, I'm sure you just have an exhaust leak after you installed the Rivco flange covers. When you undid those header bolts you decompressed the exhaust seals and I doubt that tightening the bolts will be sufficient to close any leak since the gaskets are no longer flexible after being compressed in extreme heat for a long time. If the ticking does not go away after re-tightening, you will have to install a new set of exhaust gaskets. The ticking is annoying but nothing to worry about. It won't hurt if you take your time with it.

Now that you say that it was after i put the Rivco covers on. I will check the bolts. Thanks

And i have to saw this is one bad bike!!! Blew a Fatboy away bad today!!!

These things eat harleys for breakfast, lunch AND tea!

If you loosened the bolts when the engine was hot, you'd have a better chance of keeping the gasket seals intact, but that's no guarantee especially if the gaskets have had a lot of run time.

noises

now stop all that talk about noises. I'm starting to hear voices & clunking & whineing & an engine every now & again, I'll start to think I'm on a motor scooter shortly :? :?
