Which one is that? That was a great tutorial you posted in the other thread. This is a big issue with the Vulcan Nomad riders, of which I am also one. The only one that really worked was the Kawasaki Fire and Steel accessory taco which is no longer available and weighed in at about $350 when it was. Those guys have had mixed success with the coil style.

Maybe I just picked out the right one choosing that particular tach. The price was right and I liked the style. You can also create an inductive trigger by wrapping a coil of wires around one of the spark plug wire. They make a filter as well for the trigger wire if there are issues with it being stable with the reading.
 
I've posted in other threads, I got a tach on my Touring by adding the autotune and LED readoud from dynojet to my PCV. Pricey, but it gives you about 17 readouts to choose from, I think, including A/F ratio.

Too much tech for me. I've always liked plug and play on electronics.
