I've done it on my '11 Roadster, but not the 3R yet. You may be the first to give it a go.

The procedure should be well outlined in the service manual though, which is in Resources at the top of this page.

I was planning on doing it to mine recently with the 30k maintenance but when I dug through the service manual on the process to reach that bearing I said forget it. I believe there was significant labor and special tools required. I figure for me in dry/sunny southern arizona my bearing and lube will last significantly longer than those in wet climates and I'll look into it again in another 10k miles.

Yes indeedy, somewhat sobering.
Manual says pull apart, inspect all parts while at the same time saying the bearings can't be removed without fkg them up ? .... manuals .....
I can't see why you can't treat them like the bearing lube n the final drive, pull the seals and coat them with the aid of a spatula device.
Prob there is you need a factory tool for frame alignment in reassembly, cheap enough in the USA but tack on $130 for shipping to NZ :(.
Have you done the steering head bearings yet ?

I had to replace the swing arm on my 1998 Trophy 1200 and there was no way to drift the bearings out without damaging them beyond use. It's pretty common for the swingarm to be a major pain in the keester (as well as the wallet).

It took me almost a week to get this swingarm out: It took one day to get it all back together.

Hehe, no I chickened out there too. I had the dealership replace the fork oil and repack the steering bearings.

I'll likely put this off a while. I'm at 40k miles.
Anyone lubing the splines of the drive shaft? I would think that's more likely to wear out without maintenance, but it's not listed (I don't believe) in the service manual in the maintenance section.

True, not listed but need doing. Checked and did mine at about 28,000 K and was metal to metal in places. Just went in again at 52,000 K and grease had held up ok but doing it again.
Easy enough job.

Sorry, now back to the swing arm....
