Sweeten the pot . . . Lush "street" cams

My expectations are low.

To answer one question -- "takes a village" -- yes, I'll be turning the wrenches -- with guidance and extra support from the folks I mentioned in the OP -- and yet others.

To answer another question: only additional part non-stock going in is Nev's manual cam chain tensioner. No springs, valves, tappets, pistons . . . head staying put, and for now sticking with the stock clutch.

I just LOVE this place and all of you.

@albertaduke did MUCH more to his mill than just the cam -- the cam was more aggressive and he changed other parts to handle the added power/stress, and he has the ability and access to a trusted local wrench.

I have neither the pockets, nor the trust in anyone local. Had I the funds, back in the day, I might have gone with Carpenter. My wife keeps joking when the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes envelope comes in the mail, "Look, look look -- it says right here, I'm only 'one step away'!"

Until then, I'll just be a bit smug internally.

Lush himself only suggests that I'll see 9 hp gain, and touts the cams as resulting in a smoother running engine that will just feel like it's faster, and that's o.k. with me.

All sounds well planned real world and sensible and 9 usable horse power still sounds good .

There a company over here called Newman cams and they can re-profile original cams check there website .

Selecting the right Camshaft

What are you looking at in terms of cost ? if you want to share that info

Yes, I will be taking my time, and documenting the progress.

I also have on my to-do list, obtaining a baseline check on the dyno to understand the before and after.

I've already missed the boat for stock, so for my purposes, the baseline will be RAMAir, Viking headers and single pipe (with baffles), and one of @HansO 's maps.

That should be interesting in itself.

And like you @Boony , I installed Race Tech Gold Valve emulators (those only work for the Touring -- have to use something else for the Roadsters) up front, and Hagon Nitros in back, and can't forget the better tires -- Avon Cobra pair in my case, for now.
