If my memory serves me correctly it was because of multiple “blippings“ of the throttle. These bikes definitely don’t like that at lower speeds. It was a habit I had to break but no more stalls. One “blip“ to match RPMs doesn’t seem to do it. Nor does just pulling in the clutch with zero blips. Try that method and let us know your results.
Will do. I do tend to blip on down changes, a habit I developed from riding my Ducati which has high compression and no slipper clutch. But I don't do multiple blips. Maybe on this occasion I did without realising as I was hauling up unexpectedly and fairly abruptly. I'll consciously avoid it in future and see if it happens again.
 
I happen to see this thread, for all I know I replied to it years ago. I had this happen on both of the touring models I owned. It occurred within the first 1200 mile. It never happened again after that. I had the same thing happen on my new GT that I bought. I was turning onto a road off from a highway and it just quit. It hasn't happened since and I think it is just a mystery quirk with the bike. It seems to go away after putting some miles on the bike, so I'm not worried about the issue.

I think (and hope) you're right. If there was an intermittent electric/electronic fault it would happen more frequently.

When my Harley was brand new it would stutter sometimes and feel like it was about to stall on the transition between a closed and open throttle when pulling away at junctions etc. It never did stall but at first I was holding higher revs on pull-aways as there felt like there was a fueling issue that was about to make it stumble. But as the miles went that smoothed out. Either the ECU was "learning" as the bike was ridden or it was a case of the rider "learning" unconsciously the correct throttle modulation demanded by the engine as I got used to the bike?

I have exactly the same problem with my Ducati Streetfighter V4S...from time to time, say about once every 3 months, it stalls when I go into a bend or roundabout at low speed. This has happened much less since I installed a "custom" map and a racing exhaust and, according to my information, this engine stalling problem would be linked to the pollution management system at low speed/low rpm. .. I think we should ask them who removed the AIS if they still have the problem.
