somebody help me p l e a s e

I called the dealer today and explained the situation with the Rocket to him, he said that if I checked all of those things I did, he doesn't know what else to tell except that he would be doing the same things, tearing things apart and looking. I mentioned about the thought of the output shaft bearing going bad and he did agree that could be the problem. He also said that when I pull in on the clutch lever and the noise stops that it sounds like it's in the drive/transmission part of the motor. I asked about bringing the bike up and he said he really didn't want to see the bike right now that this is their high/busy time of year but if I wanted to bring the engine up and drop it off they may find some time to look at it.

Needless to say I'm really not impressed with the customer service from dealer or triumph rep Peter on this situation. It's like sell the bike, once it's out of warranty it's your baby, or the great phrase " IT'S THE NATURE OF THE BEAST" what bull**** !!!
If I wanted to pay for a motorcycle to set in the garage and not be able to ride it I would nave bought a basket case. you know I ride my motorcycle and it's like therapy, I call it "Rocket therapy" but I guess I'm in the "character building" stage now huh?

Sorry to hear ya strugglng seeya.. my 05 engine upgrade including the O/S bearing was done under warrany in 2010 because she only had 11000ks on the clock and the local dealer was good enough to follow up for me although I didn't buy from him.. I know this wont fix your problem but you could maybe try contacting Triumph direct.. don't have any other suggestion mate...

Well, I guess the character building begins, i dropped the sump and found metal shavings in the pick up screens so I guess I'll be pulling the engine and tearing it apart. if i didn't have a conscious I would put it back together and trade it but I can't do that.

Has anyone ever made a stand or a jig to hold the engine upside down to change split the case?? If so, maybe you could give me some ideas. or is there anything I should know before I turn it upside down? or do I just put something under it and turn it upside down?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You know I've worked on a good many motorcycle engines and transmissions but when I got the rocket i have to say I was a little intimidated, well needless to say I'm not intimidated anymore.............just a little pissed.

As I said before any help or suggestions on splitting the case would be greatly appreciated.

I did leave Peter C @ triumph a message.

Thanks

Don't know if this would suit you but most of my small engine work some years ago was just done on the bench.. I think I would just knock up a small wooden surface bench and use wood blocks to support the eng. block.

Most torque settings can be done in the down to the bench direction and with the head off you can bolt the block to the bench surface with a couple of securing bolts to work in the crankcase..

Just a suggestion..:)

Yeah I think I'm gonna take some measurements and build a stand to set the inverted engine on. Make it easier to work on.

Just got off work I'm going home and start taking stuff off the bike to prepare to take the engine off. I'm going to trailer it to my brother in-laws garage, he has a little more room in his that's where I'll do the work. The rocket had to hang out with to harleys over there

I have everything off of the bike except up shocks, swing arm and motor mounts. I'm Ready to put on the trailer.

Wow I didn't realize just how restricted the intake was till last night, THAT REALLY SUCKS! I think I'm going to go with the triple filters when I put it back together.
