Thought about that, this is where the threads are, 30 mm thick, and would be taking just a little more than the depth of the threads. Don't think it will weaken it. Good thought though

I was considering why Triumph or whoever designed the Final drive unit didn't machine the slot... Just be sure mate don't wanna loose ya OK

started work this morning at 7AM installing a new kitchen, worked till 4:30 PM, started working on the Rocket at 5PM, just got done at 10PM, man I fell old !!! but the good news is the Rocket is ready to RUMBLE

Thanks Pedro, I put about 70 miles on it yesterday and I'm gonna put about 150 on it today on a F.O.P ride. It feels good to be riding it again instead of wrenching on it, feels much better now. Another thing is the clutch adjustment, Warp post on here about the 2 MM free play in the clutch adjustment, I thought mine was right till I did it like he showed, pulling the cable out, that little bit of adjustment made a big difference on my bike, made it a lot smoother. I don;t know how that little bit of adjustment on the lifter piece can make such a difference, my tranny was always smooth but even that seems better.

Yes those little tricks are the key to setting up the clutch.What ever you do never adjust while riding it will end in tears.
