So I think I want a blower on my Rocket

Started looking at some turbos for the first time in a few years because of this thread, there have been some rather intersting developments at what is available in a reasonably priced turbo. None of it is really new, but the prices on some things have dropped a lot.

These seem like they might match up really well to an R3 :p Infact, after plotting it, its a **** near perfect match for an R3.

Would give huge flexibility with boost by gear, boost ramping (avoids abrupt boost spikes), and some other very cool features.
WELL whats the point of a turbo if you cant use the power in a 270 HP package SO you have to be a real HP JUNKY and be able to ride your ass off

Indeed, very true.

IMFASTOO, do you happen to know if the injectors are peak/hold or saturation type on R3? Just looking around to see whats available off the shelf.

I have just put about 400kms on a blown rocket for the customer. I have to admit to not really being a fan of the supercharged kits I have seen. Mainly due to tuning issues etc. This one has turned out real well. Engine is all stock apart from heavy clutch and some cams I did to suit the F/A. We went from 217hp to 280 odd with cams and rework of the kit. I have spent a lot of time getting it nice to ride and it IS. I can trickle along at 60km/h in 5th gear, go around roundabouts in 3rd gear at 1350rpm etc just as smooth as butter. OR if I rev it she goes like the space shuttle. So it can be done. A turbo would obviously be different, done plenty on other make bikes but none on a R3 yet. I think as ART alludes to, getting too much low end would be the problem, it would break stuff and be hard to ride. Re doing the cams/package and electronics would fix that, but it is a bunch of $ to put into a daily rider,as against a drag bike.

Not sure if you have ever used an Eboost 2, but it lets you control the waste gate per gear via rpm vs tps settings, so you can adjust the onset rate and onset RPM of boost. Can't say I have ever used it on a bike, but I have used it on a car and pushed 400hp/300lbft through stock axles that were known to break at 180hp with na motors. Survived like that for 3 years daily driven.

Might be a viable and fairly easy method to calming low end boost/torque from a turbo bike.

I haven't completely ruled out the Carpenter kit, but the cool factor of a blower is pretty high. I broke lots of Chevy big blocks back in the day with blowers so maybe it takes me back to my youth...I dont.know. why does a man need more than one rocket? Or more than one gun? More money? Etc....no logical answer to that question
WELL the idea is to not break anything keep it simple and user friendly I havnt seen any turbo or supercharged rockets run any spectacular 1/4 mile times yet that mimic real world street confrontations or stoplight shootouts that are so popular with the hot bike crowd

The hydraulic clutch option with the TTS kit is nice, I have it, it does away with lifter piece which is a bonus.
Power is all useable with strong torque lowdown.
Naturally aspirated tuning gives similar bhp more rpms but torque is moved up the range.
Depends what power you want, stump pulling stomp roll-ons or arm stretching acceleration up to giddy rpms.
I added S/C to my tuned motor 4years ago because torque was 187ftlb @ 5.500rpm, 2000rpm only 153ftlb
I didn't want to have to change down to be in the power band.
It has it all now.
BUT is it useable and can you actually race it and win ?

Just incase it hasnt already been said " im yet to get a blowie on my Rocket as well ".......................
