I am installing the Tall Sissybar / Luggage rack on my Roadster (swmbo wants to stay on the back). I am using these instructions:
http://www.triumphinstructions.com/ProdDocs/A9738070-EN.pdf

on Page 3, right-hand column, task 4, it says:
"Fit the longer edge-trim provided in the kit to the Top edge of the cropped mudguard covers. Fit the shorter length to the lower edge, positioning it to ensure it protects the mudguard"
45 minutes later and I see no way to do that with the jagged angle of the cropped part, the length of the edge-trim etc.
Does anyone out there have a picture of exactly how they installed the rubber-trim pieces to the cropped mudguard covers?
[FONT=&quot]Or am I being anal and should just not use those pieces?

The sissy bar/backrest/luggage rack is all fine - just the final touches of replacing the mudguard cover with the cropped version is the problem.

I didn't use the rubber trim pieces either.. have never had a problem with them hitting the paint or anything. I used to swap between the solo look and the sissy bar all the time.. but have now settled with leaving the sissy bar on..

Thanks for the replies

I spent a few hours last night looking at every posted RIII picture that showed a sissy bar and it seems like some folks use the rubber strips and some don't.
I am probably going to trim them as needed and try glue them on where the covers don't join with the sissy bar hardware and do barely touch the mudguards.
Now, what glue to use ?

Gorilla Glue available at your local Home Depot/Lowe's/ other warehouse home improvement store.

temporary decision

Ok - tried to get the rubber strips to stick with Gorilla glue (on the twisty parts) - not happening.
Put the covers on without the strips (for now).
Will probably cut the strips and place smaller pieces strategically - hopefully unbent strips will stick.

Patience and an extra set of hands which they don't tell you about. Also apply cold beers to installers sparingly to lower tension.
