Old man on a bike
I feel your pain as I am seriously thinking about selling my 2015 R3T. I'm turning 77 this coming January and the weight of the beast is getting to be just a little bit much to handle. I have some balance issues and a kind of a visual vertigo thing, but it doesn't seem to affect me riding or driving. For the most part I am in good health and my ablation seems to have fixed my afib.Hi all. Well, the time has finally come. I'm about to turn 74 years old, and have several ailments. I've got to where I trip, stumble, etc. etc. just getting around my home. So, I'm actually afraid to ride any of my "3" Rockets anymore. A 2013 that I bought brand new, and "2" 2005's, one with a 2015 engine, other in a hard tail frame. And lot's of parts including a complete 2005 engine. In Labelle Florida, near Fort Myers. ONLY LOCAL interest. I'm a crabby old fart and hate telephones. This is just a cue to see if anybody might be interested. Not looking for a lot of money, just tired of seeing them growing cob webs and low tires and batteries. Sad but true. PM me if interested. "cootertwo"![]()
It's the weight of the bike that is the biggest problem stopping and slow speed maneuvers. On the road it is a piece of cake to handle whatever the road throws at me. It is so wide I seem to have a problems getting my feet off the floorboards. This is especially true after riding awhile and that old age stiffness sets in. I've been thinking about engineering a steering damper to slow my low speed coming to a stop steering a bit.
I still like riding and have been looking at something a little smaller and lighter like an Indian Super Chief Limited. I'll have to do a test ride to see if it is more manageable. It will be tough giving up the Rocket performance and I really have it setup with with all sort of things I have engineered. You may see it listed here on the forum in the near future as the bike only has around 15,000 miles on it and is in excellent condition. Cheers
