Sorry for drifting off topic but my rad shrouds are plastic and I have painted them black with a flexible plastic bumper paint. You can also buy black end pieces from Triumph for one arm and one leg.

Sorry for the length of this but I hope the pictures will answer all of the questions you guys have. If not give me a shout.

OK, first off OWL you are not allowed to read or look at this, as a matter of fact close this thread NOW!

Oh so you didn't close it huh, well I looked at your post and thought, as usual, I had misspelled a word, (I did), so thinking you, oh wise one, got it right, I copied your misspelled word. That's all on me. But you weren't going to say a word about it huh? Thanks, hipporider. Think I'll stick to words with four letters or less from now on, Ha! ("for sure", not def*%#!ly!)
OK, sorry for the rant, I took some pictures of the brackets on the bags and the bags on the bike,
This first one shows how the bags are angled out towards the bottom. I thought they would look more vertical when loaded but I have had them well overloaded and they still are angled out at the bottom.

This one shows how I cut the bracket and relocated the holes to a more convenient location for these bags. You can still see the original holes.

Both bags.

View from above.

OK this one I showed because some of you will not have the same amount of room due to your pipe configuration. You may have to mount your bags higher which means you will have to remove more of the bracket. No big deal really, I just wanted mine as low as my pipe would allow.

Inside of bag on bike.

Blackie Front view complete with bug remains.

Blackie side.

My view.

I take no responsibility for spelling or other errors!

Lonnie, that is quite a package...

Now I understand what you had to do to the brackets.. I also see how they slant outward. The Ghost Brackets didn't appear to but now I don't know. It could be they both do so...I am awaiting a reply from them and will have them on order this week. I'll let you know what I find...

Mike

Mike,

I understand, I looked at both but decided on the easy brackets because they were made specifically for the Rocket. I believe the ghost brackets have a slider that you adjust for the width of the fender bolts. Just something to consider.

Lonnie

Thanks for the pics Lonnie, I have ordered the easybrackets from the US and I already have the H/B 30lt bags, the stock exhausts are going to be a problem for sure I was looking at mounting the plate on the bulging out bit but that will add to the width, wont be much left of the plate if I cut it down further, I reckon they will need to be 3 or 4" higher than yours.

Still smarting from the (mis)spelling controversy, the owl sneaks back on.........

Nice set of pictures, Lonnie - those bags look perfect for my set up, and will have to order myself a set.

You mentioned before about taking off a rear catch?

What was that all about, and why did you feel it was necessary?

Owl,
On my first picture from the rear where I put the two pieces of reflective vinyl, the inside one on each bag covers up four small holes where that catch was mounted. It is there to latch onto the metal hoop that H & B uses as their mounting system. You could leave it on but it would not be used and I didn't want it on there. If you look closely at the picture of the open bag, on the left, (rear) inside the bag you can see where the four rivets were that held that latch in place. H & B uses it to hold the bag in place after it is situated on their holding bracket that stays on the bike when the bags are removed. In my picture of both bags on the bench you can see the front of that protrusion is cupped to fit on their bracket, (hoop). The protrusion locates the bag relative to their mounting bracket, that is the reason for the protrusion. That latch that I removed holds and locks, (with the same key that opens the bags), the bags to their bracket and thus on the bike.

Man I'm getting used to this spell check thing.

Hope this helps, Lonnie
