2012 Triumph Rocket Roadster
Gave the rocket a squirt last night. Problem at 3000rpm to 3200rpm in 5th have a miss not always there but annoying. If i accelerate gently no miss only happens under hard acceleration Have power commander v autoune. I have been using 95 fuel wondering if I go to 91 and disconnect the autoune. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Paul, I did that two months ago. will drop a map that hanso sent me, disconnect the autotune and see how i get on. Will also pull the plugs as i suspect this may also be a problem. Was in UK earlier this year and head mechanic at triumph dealer said that have had problems with the 2012/13 models doing this. He gave me a pair of HT leads at no charge. Good service i must say.

Hey i think i may have sorted this. Do the basics first good advice. Checked lower tension wire and fittings all okay. Lets check the plugs as the bike was serviced by a triumph dealer not so long ago. Well all six plugs loose. Must have being a Monday of Friday service. Think i paid extra for this one. My advice do it yourself least they way you know its been done.

Cool Man.

i have finally got the bike sorted. After triumph dealer told me there is nothing wrong with the bike its a map issue, i thought it could only be an electrical fault as the miss was random. After doing a check on the spark plug leads i discovered no spark to number four cyclinder. Replaced number four lead, dropped a Hanso tune, went for a club ride yesterday and she pulls soooo hard, no missing all good. Must admit she is a little heavy on the gas only getting 200ks per tank. What should i expect to get or what do you get on a full tank????.

The furthest I have gone on a tank is 360 kilometers on the highway at a reasonable speed. That's with RamAir filter, TORS and a Hanso tune with 5% more fuel added and secondaries opened up. The gas gauge was registering empty when I fueled up. I was only able to add 19.5 liters so still could have gone a few more kilos, probably to at least 400.

How hard were you driving it? Was the 200 kms only city type driving or highway?

Number 4 cyclinder ?????

With the sidecar I get about 270 km for about 21 litres when solo got about 320-330 for similar

From full to warning light I get 220/230kms - about 15/16 litres usually. Gives me a big reserve which honestly I prefer not to push to the limit. It has done this since new (except when running at close to 160kph nonstop for over an hour) - independent of engine modifications/exhausts/filters/PCV etc.

If you have access to a GOOD dyno-guy then get the bike tuned. If, like me, you do not - USE autotune (esp if you have it).

NOTE: If you use Autotune there ARE mods you should do via TuneECU to get the best from it. And I would council using map/gear mode on the PCV. You will notice the difference.
