Rubber

Hi, it's getting close to having to replace the rubber on my beast. Can any one advice me which tyre's are best for the rocket, Avon Cobra or the OME Metzeler's.[/b]

I just went to the Avon...a bit pricier than the Metz, but I gotta' try something to see if I get more miles out of a rear. Otherwise, I'm going to have to appeal to the government for a bail out. I have an Avon on the front as well, but not enough miles for fair evaluation. I can tell you that any new bike tire makes the bike a dream to ride and maneuver. My $.02.

...and I think there is some exaggeration on mileage claimed.

I should clarify, that's 16,200 miles, not kilometers. (forgot it's a mixed crowd)

I did notice yesterday while putting in another plug that there is a cord starting to show in one spot. I'll be riding the wifes bike next week until I get it repaired.

It was a good run on that metz and I've been very happy with it. Front has been on just as long and will be replaced next week too.

After this next round of metz's I'll probably try out the Avon just for the hell of it. I wish the HPX came in the right size, I loved that tire on my XX.

I pulled just over 13K miles on my Metz before I had them both changed. And that was with never paying too much attention to the tire pressure. So I figured I'd stay with what I know and got a new set of the Metz.

Now I'm checking it at least once a week. Keeping 40psi in the back and 36psi in front.

I've NEVER gotten over 10,000 miles on a rear bike tire. A bike with this torque? And I'm guessing you guys aren't babying them....
