Rode The 2014 Indian Chiefton Today

the new indians are probably gonna sell like crazy. polaris has the means by which to pull this off and do it right, and americans are obsessed with this marque and V twins. me personally, i dont have any interest at all in the underpowered "american Vtwins" but so what. triples and V-4s forever i say!!!!!!!!
IVE ridden about every V twin out there including the last batch of botched up Indian clones and they all suck ONLY the Ducatis make HP and they are not cruisers SO these NEW Indians are same old retro designed donkeys same old pushrod low rpm crap engines as theve always used YUCK

I've seen a few Indians around over here ,they are expensive to buy but to me they just look like a dressed up Harley . What is the actuall difference ,is it the quality you pay for or is the name. In my opinion they look nice , can't really comment much more ,
  • I'll take a couple of those comments back I just googled the newest four cylinder Indian motor cycles .they look bloody awesome

Spoke to a old mate of mine today .. he's ridden British and American bikes all his life. Told me he test rode one of the new Honda Goldwings (the stripped back black ones ) .. that surprised me. He reckoned it was an "awesome bike" .. that really surprised me. Reckoned jumping back onto his Victory 8-Ball was like riding a vintage bike after riding the Honda. Glad I knocked back the offer of a demo on the Goldwing a month or so ago.

I don't believe the 2-cylinder and 4-cylinder "Indians" have any relation.

I think if you were buying one of these Cruisers you wouldn't be too concerned with what HP it had . I think each to their own some people will love these bikes like all the other low HP cruisers that out sell the Rocket around the world. I LOVE my Rocket but appreciate all bikes fast or slow .
On the money Dave. We LOVE to ride who gives a fig what it is on. I prefer the trumphy but thats my problem not anyone elses!

Why would anybody buy a Ural? Sometimes is about more than horsepower, torque, and speed. Don't get me wrong. I love horsepower, torque, and speed....... that's why I own a Rocket but I also love the v-twin "pop, pop, pop" when I'm lugging up a hill on a back country road. From what I've seen & heard, It looks like Indian is back to stay this time! I'm glad you enjoyed the ride Elvis!

Its a different class! no power! just a cruiser! I learned the hard way back in the 90s when I had a well known Maryland H.D. engine builder put together a ground up motor 102 ci. with the best parts available for my low rider, it made 121 hp and 123 tq. not bad! I could have bought a new rocket for the amount of money spent! and it only lasted 3500 miles then scattered!

The new Indian 111 does have some respectable torque and a flat torque band. More than can be said for most cruisers, except ours, I believe they make 122 Ft. Lbs. still nearly double a Hardly.
