Rocket X needs to be louder

If you want to spend that kind of money. My system deletes all the factory pipes up to the head pipe. So it also works as cat box delete. Mine also uses the TORS tune with cat box delete, but can be done by you with a laptop and tuneboy or tuneecu or by the dealership. I can also give you different sound levels to choose from and the exhaust includes a removable baffle if you decide to increase the sound levels. With the TORS once you buy it the sound is the sound and that's it. I have been manufacturing motorcycle part for over 4 years to supply folks like yourself quality parts at a great cost savings and that why i do it.

Thanks, Dain

Thanks Dain but I want to keep the warranty in place and after talking with the dealer it sounds likes TORS are my only choice for now. Do you have a website of other things you make?

From this thread, I've learned that the TORs don't have catalytic converters in them, that the box in the stock crossover doesn't have anything in it and probably doesn't degrade performance. So you can apparently buy the black or chrome TORs, which will sound better than stock, and get the dealer to install the tune for them. That should set you up for not much expense until the warranty runs out.

At last!!!! Someone who actually reads posts and knows what the uninformed b/s is. Well done.

@Rocket Xtreme you have a limited edition Rocket X. You'd be nuts to discard the very thing that makes it distinctive and turn it into something that looks like every other Roadster with aftermarket pipes. Go with the black TORS or you wasted your money buying a "special".

I too am looking for exhaust options but 2 must haves are:
1.Must be black
2. Must be a 3-2 system
I love the option of the black tors ( you guys are well appreciated for listing the part numbers). I do have one concern...they look (at least in the pic provided) to be a gloss black. That would look little better than installing a chrome tor pipe when the rest of the heat shields are matte black. Does any one know if the finish will match the rest of the X exhaust system?

No desire to change the "look" I want more sound and a little more response, but on the outside nothing that looks different than the day I fell in love with her on the showroom floor... Although I have to admit I feel the need to take the tanks and fenders off to "preserve them" since that paint is unique and likely hard to replace down the road. She can ride around in all black until the day she is rolled into a Museum to show off her unique and original color scheme. Does that make me a bad Rocket owner???

I just placed my order for same, I will let you know when I pick them up, I too want matte or flat black, but I intend to have the bike painted this winter season into something matte black, tip to tail NO CHROME!

It really is a shame they didnt make mechanical one off's for the 10 year anniversary instead of just a nice paint job , still a great looking bike all round

I'd want to do the same. They're pretty special.

I reckon get the TORS (Black) drop in a K&N, get the dealer to do the tune, no warranty issues etc. Your bike will sound plenty loud enough and have good response. It will retain it's stock look and sound pretty good. A far as the paint is concerned why not get it wrapped in that 3M stuff (or similar, anyone have suggestions?) for protection.
Thats what I would do anyway (and have done with TORS and K&N in my classic).
Probably don't need the crossover as it is empty anyway. I reckon triumph just made a ton of them and it is easier and cheaper to use in production. A "race use only" crossover probably has the benefit of a bit of weight saving and keeping the gases hot (expanding gas will cool) for better extraction..my guess

You've answered my question well enough. True, I just think it looks like a piece of crap. I trust you're not related to it, so no personal insult meant there. I don't see the point of the box and don't really know what's inside it or how it affects the flow. Does anyone? At least a couple of people here were keen to get rid of it.

I don't know what Triumph intended, only that for the standard R3's, they made performance mufflers and a "so-called" performance crossover. I think Triumph's intentions are hard to understand sometimes. They come out with a new model, the Roadster, but restrict the power. Then two years later, they decide to re-instate that power.
I took the cross over off my 2011 R3R to look inside and it is empty. There is no restriction. The cats are indeed in the mufflers.
