OLD THREAD!!! Haven't updated in so long sorry guys!!

So..... Rebuild complete, tuned, and found nearly 240RWHP and 180ft-lbs, happy days Gearbox was exactly as you said @warp9.9 , picked up 2 x cogs, 3rd and 4th.

Now we have an intermittent starting issue, and a miss that we can't push through on road trials showing up @ 80-90% load.......... Working through that with Mark from Motec currently. Looks to be a ref/sync issue, will update ASAP!

Next will be more road testing, then drag strip runs first @ 1/8th mile local, then to 1/4. Once this is all done and if bike reliable then off to SA salt lake to see what we can do over 5 miles.... dyno showing 179mph in 4th... should be capable of over 200mph, I'll just have to work out how to get the thing stable and keep it hooked up on the salt!!

Cheers for your assistance, comments, and input fellow rocketeers! Love it!!

Again, my apologies for my inactivity. I have been struck with health issues of late and as such have been side tracked .

Miss is gone.... Went all technical initially on the subject instead of following the good ol' KISS method..... Turns out a new set of plugs did it a world of good. Strange the symptoms bad plugs can create!!!

WELL if your going to retune and you have the cash you can get another 25 + hp with the proper exhaust and you can sell that exhaust you have for a decent amount to offset the cost thats if you want to realize all the HP that your engine was designed to produce

BONES had crashed several times with that bike so Im sure that contributed to some of the problems

Retune has been partially completed, not 100% happy with it yet. The ignition map seems rather strange to my untrained eye so my next task is to find a guru to review the current curve and give me some feedback/suggestions.

When I finished rebuilding the bike after then gearbox let go I ran it up on a mates dyno and it made a woefull 180hp which I found to be due to fuel pressure dropping off. The root cause of this turned out to be a blocked fuel filter. Once this we resolved I found the fuel pulse width map had been trimmed in the higher load sections to compensate for the drop in flow and pressure..... Once we leaned these sections out we found the 240 it should have had all along. Overall the bike is performing quite well now but there seems to be much more potential left in her yet. The blokes I had involved with the tune tell me that the bike kept building torque each and every time they gave it more timing, they only pulled up as they weren't comfortable pushing it to the point of knocking.

The MOTEC had certainly added to this builds complexity... I'm contempleting just dialing the cams (as they are setup back to where they were found on disassembley, and haven't been checked), investing in a tuneboy kit, pulling 6.5 degrees out of the OEM ignition map overall (as per Bob Carpenter's recommendation), fueling her up as needed and just running with that. In theory it would be all very simple and reliable.... But that's just theory I guess hahha

What are your thoughts @IMFASTTOO?

WELL like I said i would sell that restrictive exhaust it will work fine on a lesser motor and tune it with the proper exhaust that was designed for that engine package 265+HP IT should be making 265 HP not 240

Sorry to go on a bit of a side topic but will you be taking this thing to Lake Gairdner Feb next year? I will be riding down on my Rocket from Bundaberg with the old boy on his Guzzi to see the salt racing. It would make the trip to see this thing flat out!

That's the plan captain, hopefully everything falls in place my friend.

Miss as of today reared it's ugly head again.... So back to the shed for some more tinking I guess.

Starting to think maybe ecu issue, wiring, or bad coil back breaking down... Thoughts @Neville Lush @warp9.9? Or do you guys know any other guru's that could assist? It's happening between 2800 and 4000rpm, worst at around 3500, and feels like it is missing several cycles, almost like a rev limiter cutting in and just as significant, bike just stops pulling (which is handy sometimes due to the amount this thing likes to fry the rear....). It only occurs under heavy load and it seems to lessen with more throttle, and only faintly occurs with low throttle input. Also, it's intermittent... Couldn't feel it this evening in the cold night air on the way home from my old boy's place.

Any idea's or input would be splendid!

@3Katz I'm looking forward to this salt thing, on paper looks like the bike should be capable of the world record, and I'll be going with a friend, who's a bike mechanic, and currently holds 5-6 world records in different categories himself. We have every chance of making this work, so wish me luck!

Hope to see you over there, if ya find my bike, the black ice racing crew, and our camp, don't be a stranger! Come over for a beer or 30, shoot the breeze with us!

Cheers

TPS maybe? Will check it's actual output in the morning, and give the associated wiring a once over.

If it has tha motec ecu I would not know the process involved in setting up the TPS . That being said if it was me I would check the low tension leads to the coils number one being the hardest to get at. (Incidently had someone call me two days ago with a similar problem and like a lot of people only check the easy coils. They were leaning towards the fuel filter and was not sure where it was or how straight you have to hold your faceto get it out). Anyway after talking to him he then realized it would be easier to check out the leads on the front coil first before messing with the fuel filter. About 1/2 hour later i received a email say bingo front coil did it. That being said I would check ALL coils first then vacuum lines and caps the chang the TPS and do a full ISCV reset. If there is any worn spotsinthe TPS it can muss stuff up. Even the F to L switch over since this point is a combination of rpm and throttle position. Imagine your throttle position point bouncing around sending hair brain signals to the ECU and the ECU saying WHAT ???????
Again I am not sure how the MOTEC is programed but I am sure it's technical. Have a look at the high tension coil leads whil your under there for any cracks and such maybe at night in the dark would show a weird spark jump just in case.

Also if Nev pops in and gives advice I would listen to him before you listen to me
