@TriumPhil I do indeed have that exact bike! Andy aka blastedbones, seems to be somewhat of a living legend! How do all you blokes know him?? As for exhaust, the bike still has that crazy custom header setup!
 
Get the box undercut by a proper person, it will help. 1and 1/2 degree dog angle is enough. Some one who uses a tool and cutter grinder or similar , not grinding by hand.One can make shims to shim the box properly and should do so. At the risk of blatant advertising, check our "made for the R3" cam chain tensioners. Good luck.
@Neville Lush I'm a fitter machinist by trade Neville, I have moderate experience with tool and cutter machines, should I attempt the grind or just send it to somebody who specializes? Just checked your website, the cam chain tensioner looks like it's all go! Although as I am a tight arse I'll stick with the APE one I currently have and I'll machine the new guide at work to suit the aluminium adapter.

Neville, do you have any experience with the guide itself snapping? If so have you got any idea's around what I could do to ensure this doesn't happen again? Also checking your website I couldn't help but notice the high HP Rocket dyno sheet you have on there... 270-300 odd?? NA or boosted?

bones was a regular over on the other owner's site, r3owners.com. Yes, he is indeed renowned and it was easy to deduce (at least for me) that your bike was formally the Mad Doctor's.

BTW, anything you might consider Lushie to do for or upon your R3 is a "no worries" situation, mate. He's a top notch man and an equally topnotch wrench.:thumbsup:
 
Sam, I guess only you know your own capabilities with the tool and cutter grinder. It may be good not to make an error :). I need to update the site again, always more current info available. But yes that's a stock engine apart from my stg 1 supercharger cams and the blower. I have seen the guide cracked, it can be because of overtightening the manual tensioner. I also do not like the way the suzuki/ape tensioner contacts the blade, hence the new tensioner... We also do them for YZ250F and YZ450F reverse cylinder engines.

SAM you can gain another 25 to 35 HP if you change the exhaust over to one of the
Carpenter pipes
