Rocket Owners Northwest

always a treat to ride on your choice roads.. have you asked Jim bigknife ,that is one cool dude !

John Bigknife will ride to Burns for the event.
He IS indeed a cool dude. 4 tours Viet Nam, Army Special Forces airborne insurgents, medals up the ying-yang . . .
Over the years, I've managed to take advantage when he be a little drunk and have acquired some stories that could be movies of his exploits.

Is anyone going to the Dog Run (animal shelter benefit ride) this Saturday at Cruisers in State Line, ID? I've never been to one of these kinds of events, figured I might give it a shot. Not sure what to expect-this is my first "cruiser" style bike. The ADV community is a lot smaller and more independent (like herding cats).

Never heard of this "Dog Run", but I have visited Cruisers a few times and it is a cool place!
Perhaps @Bob R may pipe up as he be from Spokane.

I have never heard of the Dog Run either. I try to stay away from large group rides, to many variables (read as "stupid people") involved with a thrown together gaggle of people trying to ride together. That is just me though, a small group of people I have ridden with before is much preferable. FYI, Nels is bringing his dyno over to Empire on 11,12,13 Sept. I will be there Sat morning getting a tweak of the tune on mine. @IdahoRenegade, have you considered putting yours on the dyno for a tweak?

I didn't catch when he was coming over, or notice that it was to Empire. I might have to order K&Ns and open up the breathing! Probably won't be quite that soon though-been spending way too much money lately. I'll head over at least one day and see if I can catch someone else on the dyno. Never seen one operate in person.

I am scheduled to be on the dyno @ 1030 9/12. That would be a good time, plus they may even be cooking dogs for lunch. ;)

As far as opening up the breathing, the main culprit is the tiny pipe coming out of the header pipe to the plumbing to the mufflers. You can get some improvement with K&Ns but to get real improvement you need a decent header set up. It will be interesting to see the numbers my touring makes between last time and this time with just replacing the stock intake stuff with a RamAir.

Ask Nels if you can be inside - he allowed me to.
Be sure to tell him I put you up to it.
The man really knows his stuff - motorcycles AND cars.
You will learn much from the experience and from Nels.

Have you had a dyno with K&Ns?
A true comparo between it and the RamAir would be good stuff to know!

My last dyno was stock intake with TORS. THis one will be with the RamAir, never got around to putting the K&Ns on. :(

I was inside for the last run, it gets pretty hot in there.
