Comments???
OK. I've been hesitating on responding to this but here it goes. I'd really like to do this trip but my opinion is that Labor Day weekend is the absolute worst time for it unless, of course, you enjoy going 10 mph under the speed limit stuck behind a Winnebago or 5th wheel followed by a line-up of 10 other lollygaggers that are completely impossible to pass. I generally try to avoid rides even on regular weekends due to heavier traffic but Labor Day weekend is the Holy Grail of all road travel holidays!

That being said I will try to make it, or part of it, if that’s the only time it works for everybody. I’m much more open to the 2nd through the 7th though. I also need to get a new Exedra Max on the back. I could probably make it another 500 miles on the Metz but don't think I want to risk it. I will order that right now. Hopefully it won’t be a problem to have it on by the 28th.

Also, what about a jaunt up to Hurricane Ridge at Port Angeles? It’s a 1 hour round trip. I’ve never done it but heard it’s quite a view up there. Should definitely be included in a “best of the WA peninsula” I would think. 112 to Neah Bay would also be great but that would probably take too much time.

Where are you planning on stopping for the night?

Brent,
I agree with you regarding the holiday traffic. I could do Sep 2 & 3 as well.
Perhaps that would be better?
Get your Excedra Max on!
I likey the Hurricane Ridge road idea! I have never done it as well in like 20 rides around the Loop.
It's 27 miles and about 40 minutes each way up to Neah Bay. I am game for this as well.
I was already planning on taking 113 and 112 along the north coast to Pt Angeles anyway.
So far you, Jim @RKTNMYPKT and @smokit2 have expressed interest and I have a couple others coming as well.
Let's see what shakes out.
Steve

Yep, I think the 2nd and 3rd would be much better. I just hope Jim can make that. I think it's pretty cool he wants to come up all the way from CA. And smokit2 lives in WY? Wow. Guess I won't complain about driving from Everett down to Longview for the start point.

Glad you're open to Hurricane Ridge and Neah Bay although we can play Neah Bay by ear depending on the time. It won't take as long if you were planning on 113 and 112 anyway. You had 101 past Lake Crescent on your map which also looks real nice.

Forks sounds like the most logical choice. I'm going to wait until I see that my tire has shipped, Hopefully Monday or Tuesday, before reserving a room.

Let me know ASAP when you know for sure about your tire and then allow me to put these days out to the others before we lock in the dates.

Patrick,
Fly or drive here and you can ride my V2K!

My tire has shipped so I should be good to go. We're leaving for Ocean Shores this morning and won't be back 'till Friday evening but I'll try and check in here if I've got reception. Wanted to clarify, I'm open to any dates starting the 28th and it should be worked so as many who want to come can make it. Was just warning that if it's the 29th thru the 1st we WILL encounter heavy traffic. I usually ride above the speed limit. I don't have a problem riding at the speed limit in a group but going under the limit for long periods of time without the ability to pass definitely isn't as much fun and can potentially mess with the mileage goal for the day.
