Do any of you out there have a Rocket III trike with mechanical reverse? I'm curious how they have setup the reversing. Pics of any of the components would be a huge help.
I have been playing with trikes & sidecars for a long time. Motor trike in Texas put in reverse in most of their big bike kits. Works on a separate electrical system, including battery. I believe they use a starter motor. Try Ebay under reverse kits for Trikes & sidecars. Good luck

Just came across this on Amazon. It is a new different approach>>>>

I purchased an R3 Motor Trike about a month ago. Still working out a few things, but I can tell you that the reverse is a starter motor. When you engage the reverse button, it converts the horn and starter buttons to operate. You have to hold both buttons down for it to move. I usually hold the horn down and activate it by using the starter button. The common objection is that, it's too fast for reverse movement. You almost need to add some control by dragging the brake. It's been suggested to try rewinding the reversing starter motor to 24 volts. With the 24 volt motor operating off the 12 volt battery, it should sufficiently reduce the speed. Hope this adds to your knowledge of the Motor Trike reverse system.

Micksan, if you've got some time in on trikes, maybe you can provide me with some thoughts on something I'm struggling with. I want to change out the seat on this Motor Trike for something with a decent passenger pad and backrest/sissy bar/luggage rack set-up, maybe even a tour pack. I haven't found anything online that's made to fit. So, I'm sure I'll have to adapt. Got any ideas that might help?

The only seat you will probably get to fit properly is the OEM seat. There are several places that you can take it to be modified. I would not mail it off. Sargent seats have a good registration. As far as the backrest You will need to talk to them. I use a good back support from Amazon.
