Rocket Crashed and Totaled

Riding a group.......................

A buddy of mine is an amateur bike racer. One broken Shoulder, a few broken ribs, two broken clavicles, countless road rash accidents-and he says I'm crazy to ride a motorcycle!!!

Kudos to ya for wearing the proper gear! I hope you heal fast, having personal knowledge of how painful those high, larger busted ribs can be.

I have rode in, organized and led many group rides up to 50 riders over the years. Riding in a group is indeed challenging and requires at least as much rider attention as riding at the ton! In a group, one cannot ride as if on a solo cruise.

Given distance at speed and perception response time, your 2 second interval was adequate - IF paying close attention.
Whoever ran this ride should have explained the staggered or two-up formation that was used, and that those unable to maintain a 2 second gap should move to the rear. Also important is that the leader is able to maintain a constant pace (±2mph) which is difficult to do, takes practice and even more attention. I enjoy group rides and the challenges they bring. I find the extra effort well worth the interaction and friendship along the way.

I WISH my wife would ride with me on a trike! I'd get one post haste.
Perhaps I should rent one, if possible, and push her to give it a 1 day try . . .

Been there, done some of that. When people tell me riding motorcycles is dangerous I just laugh

Indeed! Those guys in the peloton ride at speed front tire to back tire with NO gap for response time!
ABOUT AS NUTS AS IT GETS, IMHO!

Ah its great to hear God is not ready for your opinion yet. Totaling a Rocket is no fun especially if yourin Siberia (Cananda) where a three day stayat the witch doctors cost 6G's

I won't speek about sprint verses mini van

I have a good connection for bubble wrap and a Polish parachute if you need one. They open on impactworks every time in fact I never heard any complaints on them and the warranty is solid!!

Glad your ok
If your not wanting a roadster then go late 08 or 09
the trikes can dump over easier and create a larger sphincter factor which can really bind you up. Good corn liquor will help especially if you give some to the wifey while you tell her about your new stead!!!

Glad you're OK Mike!!!
I totaled my 07, got an 08. I'm now driving a 13. Antilock breaks are a game changer. I had no idea how much better they are. May not have helped you but in my crash it would made the difference. Just something to consider.

Very pleased to hear your mending, godspeed man. Sorry to hear about the bike, but thankfully it is replaceable.

OK, here is my helmet. it did fit properly snug and did it's job. I do not at this moment recall the brand, it came from J & P and has a T in the front, but I intend to send a thank you to someone. I will find a Styrofoam 'Fred the head' and keep this as a reminder.
Much cheaper to replace the helmet then the grafts and funeral expenses. My sunglasses stayed on and had a very tiny nick at the hinge. The gods were not yet ready.
