To be in business they must have public liability otherwise they're not legal. Cover usually has a max of £5 or £10 million.
Load of cock not being insured, I think they're trying to fob you off. Imagine if you knocked someone's bike over do you think you'd get away with saying you're not insured. At least contact CIB or the cops.
No way should it be at your expense.

Garage not insured very slippery, so all down to me to fix, in the UK to many people with no ins, could take owner to court but that costs here, so £1000.00 legal fees to get what back!
That really sucks alright. With the mot thing.... Is there a governing body that oversees or gives them the qualifications to operate - they might fequire them to have insurance or provide insurance that the mot people dont know about.

I agree completely !!!!! they are full of sh!t!! ..they are just trying to prevent a hike in their insur' premium for making a claim, I have seen companies pay out of their own pocket to avoid premium hikes for making claims, if it was their fault make them pay up

He should be paying, insured or not. I hope he at least gave you all the MOT papers - passed and signed.

Agree , go see a Community Legal Aid service if need be .. garage owners just straight out lying and a letter of demand usually brings them around ... or a baseball bat half full of liquid nails  suggest you try lawyer first. Good luck ;)

What kind of garage is this...
If they knock it over they just can't say sorry it's not our problem. They have to make good somehow. Wan&3rs!!!
I agree with Tomcat baseball bat usually does the trick.
Paint shops can match up paint pretty good these days. I went to a paint shop and they had this fancy looking camera and took a "photo" of the English White paint I had on the tank of my Triumph speedmaster for a little custom pain job I was doing. He took this photo run it thru his computer and produced a little tin of paint for me. Absolutely perfect it was. You'll be surprised what they can do now days.

Any witnesses to the incident? Make sure you take pictures of the damage. I'm sure you can get them to pay even if they don't have insurance. This should come out of their pockets. They also owe you for a bike rental until your ride is fixed.

I just had a body shop wreck my SUV. The vehicle was in the shop for body work and was being driven into the paint booth when a front end loader backed into it. Took out both driver and passenger doors and pushed the vehicle into a steel post blowing out the right rear quarter panel and glass. They told me I had to put the incident through on my insurance!! After a heated conversation and a quick call to my insurer the body shop assumed all the costs for the damage and the 6 week rental cost while the car was being fixed.
