Rocket 3 discontinued (fails emissions tests)

Under EU law - service parts MUST remain available for 10 years. The reality is that some become VERY VERY scarce.
Then after about 10 years all sorts of after-market producers see the need. Anybody with an old (pre-'80's) Guzzi knows.
And Real Enfileds are a doddle to find parts for

I personally cannot see the problem with a Diesel Bike. Most 2L Turbo Diesels can push out 150bhp and with more torque. And geared for a bike - would be close to 70mpg-ish.

A diesel bike would be cool, but in the us, to meet tier 4 final emissions, it would have to have scr and dpf. The scr is doable, but the dpf filters run 1100 deg. F (600 deg. C) when regenerating. Not sure where to put that on the bike. I believe eu regs are similar if not worse. Government regs have ruined the efficiency of diesel engines.

I saw this: Driven By Bacon the other day. They said it was built from an eva track t800cdi, which according to wikipedia build about 20 bikes from 2009-12. Engine was from a smart car. Apparently Mercedes built it and only used cegr to meet European regs, but still couldn't meet the us standard. I see its not offered in the new model, so euro 4 must've killed it too.

@barbagris thankfully I'll be moving away from the rediculous spam loving state to Washington soon. Still no emissions, and no spam love yay!!

This discussion actually makes me wonder about the upcoming Daytona 800, betting to meet Euro4 it's going to be only a mild bump in HP over the 675, but a good bit of torque o very the 675.
 
Add a background check, a 6-month waiting period, and only 1 per lifetime restriction and those puppies will fly off the dealer's showroom floor! The emissions hook is just a tied fly to a whaleshark...;o)
 
I am pretty sure mine would fail an emissions test...but I can tell you it is running very lean, even derestricted and all. If it was running the factory map it would be running on pure air!

That , along with many others ! Bit of a double edged sword tho I guess ? Coz it means no exports of these models to Europe and so not enough sales to be viable !
