Rocket 3 discontinued (fails emissions tests)

If they do develop a new R3 - It´ll almost certainly have to be tamper-proof. More efficient - Well Diesel then.

we could live with that, the Rocket always has been about massive torque

There are a whole load of bikes that will disappear due to Euro4. It´s not that big a surprise. If they do develop a new R3 - It´ll almost certainly have to be tamper-proof. More efficient - Well Diesel then.
I can hotrod the **** out of a diesel!
there really is no reason to pick on @mexican he is a good friend of many here, besides he really does mean good

The EPA has taken all the fun out of diesels. Need 2 tanks, and somewhere to stick the EGR system, not sure how you would fit both the SCR and DPF on a bike.
I wouldn't. Hell you live in Arizona. You wouldn't either!

They sell Rockets all over the planet and in the USofA, very few locales give a flying fart about emissions....California is one upstart that does, and there are a tiny few others. The rest rely on Federal regs, and I reckon Triumph can meet those with the right catalyst recipe, and tweaking the tune though I hope if it gets any leaner they will put refrigerant in the radiator! But whatever, the Rocket will continue to be built for the countries where it does meet emission regs, so long as they reckon there are buyers. But oh wait....UK is all but left the EU, so Euro emission regs may be moot except to the extent they want to sell any bikes in Europe. Frankly, Europe might ought to pay some attention to whether it may even EXIST in 20 years. As things are I see the landscape changing and changing wholesale and complete.

The Rocket is not a big seller and this comes from one of the original owners in fact very few if any on here have been riding rockets longer than me, anyhoo it is a niche bike not a great seller in fact I am surprised that the line has lasted 12years and as for going up against the Goldwing with a full tourer model all I can say is good luck, just remember the late 60s and 70s Triumph is not big enough yet to really mess with the big boys.

Does Triumph give any ****s about Euro 4 now after Brexit?

Should they?

Last I looked USA+AUS+Asia sales were greater than all of Europe.

Just want to point out, the R3 passed the emissions tests it was subject to without any cats, then the put cats in the muffler but left the cat box empty. There is NO reason the R3 couldn't be made to pass the Euro4 tests with an adjustment to the catalyst configuration and tune adjustments.

The real question is "Do they want to keep it alive?"

Rumors last year had either the R3 or Tbird being canceled by 2018.

R3 is a stronger seller, stronger performer, and a better long distance bike in the case of the Touring vs LT and a better hooligan in the case of the Storm vs Roadster.

Recent rumor has Tbird being canceled and R3 being reinvented using the same motor. I expect this is what will happen, as the Tbird has always been an odd ball bike as far as market position goes.

BRAVO !
