I recently purchased a Roadster which is the third Rocket I have owned. I love the new riding position and look but had been disappointed with the power. Utilizing the extensive knowledge available on this site, thanks to so many, after break in I ran the bike for the first 3k miles with a GI Pro ATRE and got great bang for the buck. The next uprade was to go with the triple KN air filters, full Jardine exhaust and remove the secondaries. The number one priority before proceeding was which tuning option and tune to utilize as obtaining the parts is fairly easy and in addition wanted to increase the speed and rev limitations, correct the speedo and disable the O2 sensor. I decided to contact Wayne at Power-Tripp performance and found him to be extremely knowledgeable and that he could provide the tune for my configuration utilizing Tune Ecu as well as all the parts at a very competitive price.
This was the total solution I was seeking and the way I decided to proceed. Wayne and his associate Shane were readily available to assist with a few minor issues which enabled the project go very well. The end result is the most powerful, smooth running Rocket I have ever ridden. As for anyone considering a similar upgrade I would highly recommend contacting Wayne at Power-Tripp Performance before going anywhere else..POWER-TRIPP Performance. All I need now is another pair of peg stubs......and thanks to Tom-Hamburg for all his efforts!

Wayne, I have stock Roadster and would love have it tuned right, them down the tract change the pipes for something that gives a better sound, what tune do you suggest for now. Thanks.

Motolink,
The stock Roadster maps close the secondary throttle blades in 4th and 5th gears - down to around 34% at higher rpm. This limits output severely - right where you want to pass on the highway/interstate. They also close them at lower throttle points and engine speeds in lower gears - reducing throttle response. This also causes the fueling to go very rich. Any change to the secondary throttle tables will require mapping.

The stock silencers include a catalytic reactor that is restrictive, as well as the restrictive junction box right after the stock header. The TORS silencers are better, but still suffer from the junction box restriction.

The stock air box and ducting limits the air the engine can pull in.

A good map will make this considerably better, but each stock Roadster I have mapped requires significantly different map work for best results. There is not "silver bullet" map that works in all stock Roadsters.

You need to visit local shops and see if they map with TuneECU or TuneBoy/TuneEdit in order to get the most from your R3R. Or simply wait, save your pennies, and do a complete package.

The same package I sent to JAGROCKET/Jerry is hard to beat, and tends to show ~30% gains in power over stock, with considerable improvements in torque as well. It allows the engine to pull all the way to ~6000 rpm.

This package includes a Jardine full exhaust system, K&N filters (5 total) with covers on the RU-2780s, TuneECU cable, map.

Each bike is a bit different in mapping, but the included map tends to be a very good starting point. So far, each R3 owner that has purchased this package has been very happy.

I have a used Predator system (custom made by Sam/TravelGuy) that will be up for sale very soon. On my dyno, (which shows considerably lower than a DynoJet) these tend to show a 3.7% gain over the Jardines, and up to a 6.7% gain when larger air filters are used without the bearclaw (or with the bearclaw trimmed to allow in cooler air). These fit all R3 models.
These need to be blasted and (and possibly ceramic coated) before I put them up for sale. They have new packing and silencer plates for the SuperTrap silencer. They will be priced significantly lower than a new Predator system.

Feel free to call me at the shop (Tues.-Sat.) for more details.
The number is on our website - www.power-tripp.com
I hope this helps,
