This week I was introduced to the Zero Electric motorcycle. 95 mph. 100 mile range 3 hr charge. 360 pounds weight. No clutch or transmission. Like the Rocket.. little noise and excellent handling.Dealer wants my Norton in trade.... won't do that, but I may buy it. 510 equivalent mpg. I am impressed.

I like these and the brammo also. Well rather I like the idea. This bike could make a great short trip commuter but could never be good for trips. even if you found a charging station with their quick charge equiptment recharging takes about an hour + you cant just pop into any gas station and be fully ready in a couple minutes and battery life gets worse over time so trips would have to get shorter every year. Also how much higher would the electric bill get when this is always plugged in? I'd definately like to get one but it seems like they're better conceptually then in reality.

can am is working on a hybrd and electric but I dont count that as a bike:rolleyes:

I'm pretty sure Honda is but i think they're in a way early testing faze now. Can't imagine them having much guts but the mpg would be incredible since some smaller gas motors can reach near triple digits now.

The weak link with electric cars is always the recharge rate. The energy density of batteries has gotten better and recharge rate has as well. The price of a kilowatt hour of energy is very cheap. But it still takes to long to recharge compared to feeling a tank full of gas. A coworker of mine that works in our Orlando branch is getting the first electric car in our company. He goes to the same place to work every day (Universal Studios) and home. Probably less than 30 miles round trip. The new parking garages I have seen being built have charging stations, on a pay basis.

Electric cars aren't practical for the majority of us ,yet.

Rode the ZERO's a year or two ago in Tulsa,
even posted pictures of them I think.
Rode both, the one that's comparable to a 500cc and the one that's comparable to a 250.
Super quiet.
Hooks up with it's own 12 ft. cable, and plugs into any 12 volt outlet.
It was more than I paid for my Rocket new.
30-50 mile range and 12 hours to fully recharge it
I think is what the guy said...
