Required Service

I think I will opt to not do the 600 mile service. If there is a software update or something like that they are obligated to tell you about it. I use Mobil 1 4T racing oil in my bikes which is probably better than what the dealer uses. I know, if I can afford the bike why can't I afford the service, but my point is I can afford the bike because I choose not to spend my money on things I don't see as necessary. If your opinion is different that's fine, no argument here. I'm paying cash for the bike. Owned 05 and a 08 Rocket, great bikes, did most all my own maintenance. Can't wait to wrap my legs around this beast.

After looking at the 600 mile checklist, no way, will change engine and final drive oil myself. That stuff they check you can see. Guess I liked the bike so much thought I would be giving it the best care. Geesh.

I did understand and read your post I am able to tell my arse from my elbow, and trust me, I did all maintenance on my 2005 1200 Bandit myself, but i prefer to buy peace of mind with vehicles under warranty, given the laws and rules that apply _here_
Cheers!

I‘m certainly one that should not be working on it. But I would add, that at the last car service I got for example, the update included adding Apple CarPlay functionality, which was awesome. So I would say it’s certainly worth letting them update the software at least. If they managed to improve the ‘turn by turn’ so-called sat nav it certainly wouldn’t be the worst thing >.>

Mobil? Well that may work for the slower Red bikes but it's Castrol for the faster Black bikes...

Any MC oil that meets or exceed the specs is GTG for me. I don't buy into a lot of hype. My bikes have run happily on Motorex, Castrol, Shell, Motul, Agip and A9
I just go for the one on sale/readily available at the time i need it (again provided of course that it at least is up to the specs.)

No navigation on my so that would not apply. Not sure what "mapping updates" mean other than that?

The 2019 Thruxton got an update last year to remedy bogging/stalling at low revs. According to my dealer they update the firmware/maps continually, both Triumph and KTM (the brands he sell)
