Well I spent ages trying to get the sleeve/ring to fit in the clamp how I was suggested. Turns out that's physically impossible. Once I flipped it over, everything fell into place.
I got lucky though since no one had any reference to go on.
I'll say this though, I'm never taking the muffler off again!!!

Not exactly the same but I had a similar experience with fitting an X pipe to my Thruxton 1200 to get rid of the cat. Peter at Meerkat Mufflers in Gympie (who is a genius by the way) told me to remove the RH frame rail - I was fitting one of the first X pipes made and there were no instructions or how to’s anywhere. I struggled and could see that taking off the LH rail would have been easier. When I asked him why he said the RH side he told me that his tool box was on that side of his workshop hoist. We both think it’s funny……now.

That'll teach ya to do a deep clean. A bike is like a hard one. They last along time till you duck with them.

I ain't duckin' with dat Oem muffler anymore, that's for certain. Ill just clean the bike from now on like a normal person
