Recommended Exhaust Modifications for Sound

TriumPhil my is an 09 Touring and the cats are in the can and I believe Triumph has kept the cats for the Touring models in the front of the silencers/mufflers. On the Roadsters the cat is separate but I have not fully looked in to one but willing to if someone posts interest in having me build one.

I did look and listen to Dain's single exhaust modification for the Roadster and it sounds good, in fact prior to building the cross-over I had a single muffler on the touring. But what I was thinking modifying the cross-over so the Roadsters or even the Classics could run dual mufflers if they want to, with the larger pipes. Just my thought.

Even though I have Carpenter's Brute exhaust, I still prefer the balanced look of pipes on both sides on the Rocket III, although the Brutes certainly look meaner or more menacing (and they are!).

So then with the cats in the mufflers the cross-over is more for balance of sound and back pressure? What I do know is the cross-over pipe size is small which means restriction to engine breathing, thus I went with 2" pipe and reduced it back to 1.75 at the mufflers/silencers, improving exhaust flow. At least that is my thought process.

Mini-rant: if you don't have a Touring and give exhaust advice, at least be aware that Tourings use entirely different pipes and that your pipes on the Roadster are not relevant.... right now AFAIK there is no full custom set of pipes available retail, and a limited amount of slipons (TORS, D&D) unless I've missed something. Edit: this is a general equal opportunity rant, not singling out any one person.

3 of the people posting in this thread have not listed their bike under their avatar. Frankly I find that annoying and discourteous. Bit hard to be critical when it's unclear who has what bike. Maybe the rant should have been about that.

The fact that I JohnnyB09T has a poor photo posted on my Avatar of my Blue 09 Touring I sincerely apologize. But from the very begining the post was started by a Touring rider and in the Rocket iii Touring Forum. Now I did mention I would be willing to look at and make a cross-over pipe for the Roadster, Tourer, or Classic version of our big brutes if anyone voiced an interest. And so just trying to offer service at my expense. But now I get hammered this not being the first time getting slapped in the face with modifications I have done to bike offering a less expensive and yet functional solution to common problems and interests I will forever shut up about any modifications. SORRY FOR THE RANT AND WASTING YOUR TIME. I am a Jack of all trades master of none.

:thumbsup:For what it is worth @JohnnyB09T i think you have made a very good effort with your crossover pipe and it should give a better flow than the std crossover as they are restrictive, if retaining std pipes, don't let people upset you with their comments as some of them have no idea of what they are talking about and purely speculate things and criticise for the sake of being a smart arse or so they think. You will get used to it, what I think would be your next step would be good if you made them with an 2 inch outlet so you could run two aftermarket mufflers (eg super trap or something like that) with 2 inch ID baffles which would make the Touring or Roadsters really growl.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND DONT LET THE CRITICS AND CINICS PUT YOU OFF.:)

Just thought .... Did you make a jig from your proto type as it would come in handy as a few members in the past have asked about a better crossover
